According to Latin American monetarism, the causes of inflation here are similar to those in other parts of the world and are basically a problem of excess demand. The structuralist approach explains the inflationary tendencies of this region with some institutional features. The divergence in the causes of inflation is also reflected in the policies proposed by the two schools. The debate between the monetarist and the structuralist school was not only at the theoretical level, Latin American governments made attempts at different times to implement the proposals of the two sides. The structuralist analysis of inflation was developed for the first time in response to the continuous price increases in Latin American countries and the failure of the IMF-based monetarist stabilization policies. However, there have been attempts to explain inflationary trends in other developing countries with this approach. In the second part of the study, the emergence of the structuralist school as a general anti-market view and its doubts about the effectiveness of the free market mechanism in underdeveloped countries will be discussed. Especially in the context of Latin American countries, the structuralist approach on the reasons for the emergence of inflation will be explained in the third chapter, and the proposed policies against inflation will be explained in the fourth chapter.
