Item Factors affecting technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) of Turkish teachers of English(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2024-06-27) Cemek, Rukiye; Genç, Zübeyde Sinem; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi / Eğitim Bilimleri Enstitüsü / Yabancı Diller Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı / İngiliz Dili Eğitimi Bilim Dalı; 0000-0001-5868-5776Incorporating technology into the teaching of English language (ELT) has gained widespread popularity thanks to the advancements in educational technology. This study sought to investigate how Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) level of English as foreign language (EFL) teachers relates to various demographic factors such as gender, age, teaching years, and educational level. This study also aimed to explore EFL teachers’ perceptions towards technology integration into foreign language education. The study utilized a mixed-method research design. First, the collection of the quantitative data was conducted with 129 Turkish EFL teachers through an online TPACK questionnaire developed by Bostancıoğlu and Handley (2018). Then, the qualitative data was collected with five volunteer participant teachers through semi-structured interviews. The quantitative data was analyzed via Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS 24.0). The qualitative data was analyzed via content analysis. The findings indicated that teachers had high level of content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge. However, they reported that they were quite weak in terms of technological pedagogical content knowledge. Moreover, the findings revealed statistically significant differences between TPACK levels of EFL teachers and their age and teaching experience while their TPACK levels did not differ significantly in terms of gender and educational level.
