Item Evaluation of ecological tolerance and requirements of exotic conifers in the urban landscape of Bursa(Parlar Scientific Puplications, 2017-07-19) Akdeniz, Nilufer Seyidoğlu; Ender, Elvan; Zencirkıran, Murat; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Peyzaj Mimarlığı Bölümü.Plants are alive landscape elements showing lively, dynamic, decorative, aesthetic and functional features and they are actively used both in urban and rural landscape applications. Effective compositions can be created by using a combination of native and exotic (foreign originated) plants in urban landscaping instead of being content just with native species. In this study, exotic conifers that appear in the urban landscape of Bursa, which has a rich diversity due to its location and ecologic situation, is determined in detail with their potentials and their evaluation in terms of their ecological tolerance (frost, drought, and salt tolerance) and ecological requests (soil properties, light requirements). As a result of the evaluation, 17 genera belonging to 5 families, 46 species and 72 cultivars have been found to be used in the urban landscape of Bursa. Many of the exotic conifers were determined to be resistant to urban conditions and had high environmental tolerance.Item Examination of the woody plant diversity in the beskayalar and Ballikayalar natural parks within the scope of flora tourism(Parlar Scientific Puplications, 2018) Zencirkıran, Murat; Ender, Elvan; Eraslan, Esma; Çetiner, Sena; Görür, Ayşegül; Tanrıverdi, Duygu O.; Çelik, Betül Hümeyra; Muduk, Burcu; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Peyzaj Mimarlığı Bölümü.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Doğa Bilimleri Enstitüsü/Peyzaj Mimarlığı.Turkey has a rather important place for flora or botanic tourism with its plant diversity resources and there has been a substantial rise in the number of activities realized within this scope in recent years. Within this scope, it is extremely important to elaborate on these resource areas included within the geography of our country for flora tourism activities and reveal their potentials in terms of sustainability. In this study, the Beskayalar and Ballikayalar Natural Parks included within the protected area system of our country were examined and their woody plant potentials tried to be revealed within the scope of the flora tourism values. The obtained results indicated that both natural parks were satisfactorily good for the flora or botanic tourism activities thanks to the presence of woody taxon, but there was more taxon diversity in the Beskayalar natural park.Publication Investigation of accessibility in recreational and leisure areas in Bursa-Turkey(Parlar Scientific Publications (P S P), 2019-01-01) Batman, Zeynep Pirselimoğlu; PİRSELİMOĞLU BATMAN, ZEYNEP; Ender, Elvan; ENDER ALTAY, ELVAN; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi; AAH-1655-2021Recreational areas, where people spend their leisure time, have become increasingly important due to the unfavourable living conditions caused by population growth and rapid urbanization. Recreational areas need to be accessible in order to be available and to increase their potential of use, in addition to the fact that they offer various activity possibilities and functionalities. The purpose of the study is to reveal the importance of transportation in recreation and to examine the relationship of transportation with recreational areas and recreational activities. The study was carried out in Bursa and conducted with "Weighted Criteria Method'. The study proposes improvements for accessibility levels and transportation for recreational areas. This study intends to contribute to the effective use of recreational areas. Item A research on Kocaeli geophytes and their ornamental purposes for sustainable landscape design(Parlar Scientific Publications, 2018) Zencirkıran, Murat; Ender, Elvan; Çetiner, Sena; Görür, Ayşegül; Eraslan, Esma; Tanrıverdi, Duygu O.; Çelik, Betül Hümeyra; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Peyzaj Mimarlığı Bölümü.Turkey is among the richest countries in terms of biodiversity because of having different ecologies and climatic characteristics. Turkey's flora consists of approximately 12000 plant species (vascular plants). Geophytes create an important part of the floristic richness of Turkey. Geophytes are considered as ornamental plants in landscape design and they are used in many areas such as beds, border, rock garden, lawn areas etc. The use of these plants in the design can be increased to ensure the continuity of natural species. it was aimed to make a selection of the natural geophytes of Kocaeli province and continuity of visuality. Color is an important characteristic which increases the visual value of the plant. Colors affect human physiology and emotions. A strong visual effect can be created with geophytes flowers. In this study, geophytes in Kocaeli flora have been analyzed and these which are possible to be used in landscape design and practices have been chosen. The geophytes in Kocaeli, have been found to be rich in terms of taxa. It has been determined that 114 geophytes belonging to 13 families exist in Kocaeli flora. It has been determined that a large part of the geophytes have white flowers (18.42 %) and it follows yellow (15.79 %), purple (12.28 %), pink (11.40 %) respectively and other colors. In addition to the flower colors, the color effects were also revealed in the study.
