Item A research on controlled atmosphere (CA) storage of peach cv Hale Haven(International Society Horticultural Science, 1994) Eriş, Atilla; Türkben, Cihat; Özer, M. Hakan; Henze, Juergen; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi.; AAH-4101-2021The harvested Hale Haven peaches were taken into storage within a few hours and they were stored after precooling under controlled atmosphere conditions with the following carbon dioxide (CO2) and (O2) ratios: Control 0 % CO2: 21% O2, 5:2, 5:4, 10:2, 10:4. The peaches were stored for 1 month at 0 °C and 90–95 % RH under the CA conditions given above, and then they were kept at room conditions (20–23 °C, 60–65 % RH) for 4 days in order to determine their maturity situations. Physical and chemical analyses were conducted in the samples taken at certain intervals during storage period with peaches. Consequently, all CA applications gave much more successful result compared with normal atmosphere (control - 0:21) storage conditions. Among CA applications 5:2 and 10:2 combinations were determined to be better than the others.Item Research on the CA storage of fig cv Bursa Siyahi(International Society Horticultural Science, 1994) Henze, Juergen; Türk, R.; Eris, A.; Özer, M. Hakan; Tunçelli, E.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Bahçe Bitkileri Bölümü.; AAH-4101-2021There is a close relationship between the fig, one of the exotic fruits, reaching the consumers' table with a high quality and the conditions of storage and transportation. This study was carried out in order to increase transportation life of the fresh fig. Furthermore, four different CO2:O2 concentrations (including a control) were used, at 0 °C and 90–95 % RH, to determine optimum CO2 and O2 levels during CA storage of the fig. Fig samples were taken out, at different periods, during CA storage of 40 days. Physical analyses such as weight loss (%), flesh firmness (lb/inch2) flavour and aroma were carried out as well as chemical analyses such as respiration rate (mg/CO2/Kgh), water soluble solids (%), titratable acid (g/100 ml), pH, invert and total sugars (g/100 g), vitamin C (mg/100 g), carotene and chlorophyll (mg/l). Consequently, it has been determined that Fig "cv. Bursa Siyahi" can be stored for 4 weeks at 0 °C and 90–95 % RH with CO2:O2 ratios of 3:3 and 5:5.Item A research on the controlled atmosphere (CA) storage of lettuce(International Society Horticultural Science, 1994) Özgür, Mustafa R.; Çopur, Hanife; Henze, Juergen; Eriş, Atilla; Özer, M. Hakan; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi.; AAH-4101-2021; 6603493857; 6603446163Iceberg type lettuce cv. "Calona" was stored for 25 days at 0 °C and 90–95 % relative humidity, under different CO2 and O2 combinations (i.e., 0:21 (control) 0:5, 1:5, 3:3 and 5:5). Physical and chemical analyses were conducted on day 15 and day 25. As a result all CA applications (0:5, 1:5, 3:3 and 5:5) were found better compared with the control (0:21) application in the lettuces stored for 25 days. The most successful results were obtained from 3:3 and 5:5 applications.
