Item Creativity and change in early childhood(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2007) Bilhan, Dilek Şahiner; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Eğitim Fakültesi/Güzel Sanatlar Eğitimi Bölümü.A child faces with a continuous change as a result of his relations with all of the things he meets. The habit of transforming the human energy into creativity must be taught to children in early ages, through the art education. The aim of the research, presented with this point of view as a poster, is to determine the two dimensional creative behavior changes of a group of children during art education given in their early childhood and is to observe for a year. In the beginning, this research is started with nineteen preschool children with ages of four and five, and their creative works are observed. In the first phase, the fine arts school is introduced to them and they are asked to paint pictures of what they saw. Observing the changes in children's behaviour ensured the continuation of the study. In the second phase, which is the subject of this article, mainly five children is chosen. But helping to acquire the creative behaviour changes in the works of all children are aimed. Learning from a model, which is applied in the first phase in Uludag University Faculty of Education, Fine Arts Education Department, Arts and Craft Education, has been, a year later, applied in “Tofas Bursa Museum of Anatolian Cars”. The museum and some art concepts have been introduced. Children have painted pictures and have been asked some questions. It has been observed that, children have not painted about the art school they saw, but they have painted what they want. The aim of the research, in the first phase, is to produce active learning by giving some clues to children; in the second phase, to observe the behaviour changes in their creativities and what they have painted. In addition, children aged four have been interested in what they feel instead of what they see. However, when they became six their tendency to paint what they feel changes into painting what they see.Item Desegregation of kindergartens: Empiric and theoretic model -based on the examples of pre-school education in the Republic of Bulgaria(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2007) Koleva, IrinaThe article overview in analytic plan cut through the problems of intercultural education in the Republic of Bulgaria. The presented educational project on intercultural education is financed by European Union. The model strategy proposed in the article is on intercultural education in the Republic of Bulgaria up to year 2015. There are analyses of pedagogical and psychological approaches on intercultural education, according to the priorities of European Union.Item The effects of the nature of science beliefs on science teaching and learning(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2007) Özdemir, GökhanThis paper discusses how science teachers’ beliefs about the nature of science affect their teaching orientations and how students’ beliefs about the nature of science affect their learning orientations. Related research literature suggests that science teachers’ and students’ epistemological commitments about science often align with positivist naïve view. In turn, science teachers’ instructions stress the objectivity and reproducibility of science and the products of science rather than the process of science. Students who have positivist naïve view adopt rote learning that leads them to memorization and meaningless learning. Considering the relationship between the nature of science beliefs and teaching and learning, this paper presents several educational implications including the constructivist approach as a shared epistemology for meaningful science learning. In light of recent research literature, this study also suggests explicit-reflective nature of science instruction embedded in scientific inquiry to enhance teacher candidates’ and students’ views of the nature of science.Item Multiple-choice test items of foreign language vocabulary(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2007) Öztürk, Meral; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Eğitim Fakültesi.This paper reviews the various multiple-choice formats used in testing foreign language vocabulary with special reference to the underlying constructs of vocabulary competence. While all formats are argued to categorically measure recognition of second language word meaning, they are claimed to differ with respect to whether they measure receptive recognition or productive recognition, following a distinction drawn by Nation (2001). A further distinction is made between those formats that measure abstract knowledge of vocabulary and those that measure lexical ability. The paper also discusses problems associated with the contextualization of the target items in the receptive recognition ability formats and considers three proposals for ensuring the processing of the context by the test-taker. It further discusses how receptive formats could be transformed into productive formats by manipulating the relative difficulty of the target and the choice words using word frequency as an index of difficulty.Item Musical instruments of India and Turkey: Some connections(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2007) Özeke, Sezen; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Eğitim Fakültesi.Each society has a unique musical system related to the character of its culture. Description of a musical event may be considered broadly representative of its cultural area. Therefore, musical instruments and their connections with different cultures could be one of the significant musical events to talk about. This paper presents brief historic explanations about India and Turkey as well as some background information about the musical instruments of these countries and some connections among them. It can be said that over the centuries there has been a continuous give and take between Persian, Arabs, Indians, and Turks. Thus, musical instruments have been adopted and accepted in all of these countries. This study shows that musical instruments from different areas of the Middle East and south Asia clearly belong to the same artistic family. However, it is important to note that the instruments with the same or similar names can refer to very different instruments, and the same instruments can go by many and varied names. Even the type of music may change an instrument’s name. Therefore, we should never trust a name of an instrument unless its precise origins are known, and who plays it.
