Item Does daily consumed herbal tea have an inhibitory effect on dental plaque formation?(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2022-12-06) Türkmen, Burcu; Altuntaş, Evrim Güneş; Demirel, Gülbike; Ayhan, Kamuran; Özoğlu, Özüm; Ziraat Fakültesi; Gıda Mühendisliği Bölümü; 0000-0003-3600-142XIn this study, developmental conditions of some bacteria responsible for the formation of dental plaque on teeth were identified, levels of dental plaque formation were determined, and the antimicrobial effect of some herbal extracts on the biofilm producing bacteria was investigated. For this purpose, 9 dental bacterial strains and Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175 selected as standard were allowed to create biofilm on dental composite material. In later stages, the bacterial numbers on the restorative material were determined. Then, inhibitory effects of green tea, black tea, linden, sage, ginger and cinnamon extracts, which are often consumed in daily life, on bacteria responsible for dental plaque formation was examined. To the results, almost all of the isolates and S.mutans found to form biofilm in the range of 3.62 to 5.05 log CFU/mm2 on the dental composite resin surface while the highest attachment was determined as 4.71 log CFU/mm2 for S. mutans. Also, all of the herbal extracts showed antimicrobial activity at different levels. Besides, the dental strains were identified as different species of Enterobacter, Halanaerobacter, Klebsiella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Thermoproteus genera. Finally, it was found that cinnamon, ginger and green tea presented the highest inhibitory effect among plant extracts used in the study.Item Economic values of supplier resource products in mountain forest ecosystems: The case of Uludag National Park(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2022-11-28) Uzel, Gökhan; Gürlük, Serkan; Ziraat Fakültesi; Tarım Ekonomisi Bölümü; 0000-0001-9939-2523; 0000-0002-3159-1769As a source of livelihood and sustainable development, the sources of supply crops in ecosystems have been widely accepted. However, the efforts made to evaluate these resources in a comprehensive way remained at a low level. In this research, it is aimed to make comprehensive estimations of the benefits of the supplier products found in Uludag National Park (UNP). Six main supplier product groups have been identified. Agricultural production, industrial wood, firewood, grazing, beekeeping and other non-wood forest products. The data were obtained from the units of Bursa Forestry Regional Directorate that make up the UNP. The obtained data were evaluated economically by various techniques. The results of the research showed that the supply products in the UNP provide an annual benefit of $12 488 974 and 985.63/ha. In this context, the research reveals the degree of importance of the benefits provided by the supplier products. It also discusses policies that can be implemented to increase rural income and improve forest protection in the UNP region.Item The effect of greenhouse structural features on the determination of greenhouse insurance premium(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2022-11-21) Şen, Bora; Gündoğdu, Kemal Sulhi; Ziraat Fakültesi; Biyosistem Mühendisliği Bölümü; 0000-0002-5591-4788The structures that are built to create suitable environments for growing plants by controlling environmental conditions by artificial means are called greenhouses. Greenhouses should be made in accordance with the characteristics of the geographical and climatic conditions in the regions to be established. Some of the important parameters here are the roof geometry of the greenhouse, the profile thickness to be used, the direction of the greenhouse installation, the geographical terrain and the height of the flooded wall. In our country, where tropical climate characteristics have been observed recently, it has become increasingly common for greenhouse growers to apply for greenhouse insurance against natural disasters. In addition to the severity of the natural disaster, the static resistance properties of the greenhouse are also effective in the amount of damage that occurs in greenhouses in natural disasters. The level of being affected by natural disasters will be different between the greenhouse built by the standards and the greenhouse built without complying with the standards. For this reason, it would be more appropriate to determine the insurance premium value according to the strength characteristics of the greenhouse. In this study, the features of SERAPRO software, which is tried to be developed for projecting and evaluating greenhouses, have been introduced. With the software in question, it will be possible to project the greenhouse with the most suitable construction features and to produce an analysis report showing the status of the existing greenhouses. According to the results of the analysis, it is thought that the greenhouse insurance policies already issued by TARSİM will be charged with more scientific scaling.Item Estimation of environmental cases in the COVID-19 period by SWOT analysis(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2022-12-26) Çelebi, Hakan; Bahadır, Tolga; Şimşek, İsmail; Tulun, ŞevketThe COVID-19 virus, which emerged in Wuhan, China in 2019 and became an epidemic affecting the whole world, caused some concerns and had unexpected effects on the environment, economy, health, food safety, and transportation services all over the world. In addition, positive developments have emerged in terms of air, water, soil, and climate in countries due to quarantine. What has been done and will be done during the COVID-19 period is important for both the safety of the receiving environment and society. SWOT analysis is one of the most important guiding tools in making strategic decisions with its clarity, simplicity, and structure that facilitates decision-making. The study identified the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of environmental changes during the pandemic. After the survey conducted with 137 people, it was observed that the COVID-19 period provided a 40% benefit in reducing environmental pollution. In addition, adverse effects were found to be 44% mental health and 40-47% post-COVID-19 process (mask use and plastic waste), respectively. In this study, a SWOT analysis of environmental changes in the world during the COVID-19 epidemic was made and various strategies were proposed and evaluated according to the results.Item A new distribution area of angelica archangelica L. (Apiaceae) around Uludağ (Bursa) and Its micromorphological, anatomical, palynological properties(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2022-11-28) Aktürk, Ceren; Özerkan, Merve; Yılmaz, Aylin; Kaynak, Gönül; Yılmaz, Özer; Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi; Biyoloji Bölümü; 0000-0003-1498-5827Angelica archangelica L. is an important medicinal plant that spreads from south to north in the world. This study aims to give details on the species’ morphological, anatomical, and palynological properties, and to present the second locality of A. archangelica, which is known from a single locality in Turkey. Plant materials were collected from Bursa (Uludağ). Micromorphological properties, fruit cross-section, palynological and anatomical properties were examined with SEM and Light Microscope. In the fruit cross-section, rib oil duct, vallecular vittae, and commissural vittae were observed. The stem is covered by a single-layered epidermis. The corner collenchyma cells and secretory ducts were observed in the stem cross-section. An open collateral type of vascular system was observed in the stem, consisting of sclerenchyma cells, phloem, xylem, and vascular cambium cells. The leaf is bifacial and has a single-layered epidermis. Anomocytic stomata were located on both leaf surfaces and denser on the lower surface than on the upper surface. Hypodermis was observed under the epidermis layer. Collenchyma tissue was located between hypodermis cells. Tricolporate pollen grains were observed. Pollens are perprolate in shape. The exine ornamentation is rugulate.
