Özellikle toplumumuza özgü atlasın bir an önce hazırlanması gerektiği sonucuna varıldı.Publication 30 years retrospective review of tuberculosis cases in a tuberculosis dispensary in Bursa/Nilufer, Turkey (1985-2014): Changes of epidemics(Mattioli 1885, 2016-10-23) Özgüç, Sedef; Yıldız, Timur; Pala, Kayıhan; Gerçek, Harika; Taş, Tuncay Aydın; Çakır, Rukiye; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Halk Sağlığı Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0002-0983-4904; 0000-0002-3816-4874; F-7816-2013; 6603159416; 36543842000; 57193114540; 56414706200Objective: The aim of this study is to describe the epidemiological and clinical aspects of patients who applied to the Bursa Nilufer Tuberculosis Dispensary by investigating the trends in epidemics over three decades. Method: In this retrospective observational study, the records of all tuberculosis cases (1630 patients) treated in the last 30 years (1985-2014) at the Bursa Nilufer Tuberculosis Dispensary were examined and statistically analyzed. Results: Males comprised 65.2% of the patients. The ages of the patients ranged from 1 to 87 years, and the mean age was 37.4 (95% CI: 36.6-38.2). Among the cases, 86.7% were new infections and 74.1% were pulmonary tuberculosis. In the last decade, the education level, the percentage of patients who had received a BCG vaccination, the proportion of women and active employees among them increased (p<0.05), while it decreased among men (p<0.05). Clinical symptoms accompanying TB such as weakness, anorexia, weight loss, and cough, decreased to a statistically significant degree (p<0.05). In the last decade, the mortality rate was 3.6% and increased compared with previous decades (p<0.05). Mortality was higher among patients who were elderly, male, did not have a BCG scar or had a chronic disease (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study adds information about the change of TB epidemics in Turkey in the last 30 years. Further studies are needed to determine the risk factors associated with tuberculosis mortality and to evaluate the effectiveness control programs of this disease.Publication 5′ MLL gene deletion in a case with childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia(Oxford University, 2010-02) Gülten, Tuna; Yakut, Tahsin; Güneş, Adalet Meral; Demirkaya, Metin; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Tıbbi Genetik Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; 6505944216; 6602802424; 24072843300; 24331130000Myeloid/lymphoid leukemia (MLL) gene rearrangements are high risk cytogenetic characteristics of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Translocations of this gene are well defined, and their impact on the patient's prognosis is well known, but deletions of the same region are rare, and little is known about their prognostic significance and the significance of their accompanying translocations. Here we present a case of childhood ALL with a deletion of the 5' region of the MILL gene detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis, This result also confirmed the sensitivity and efficiency of FISH analysis.Publication A global multicenter study on reference values: 2. Exploration of sources of variation across the countries(Elsevier, 2017-04) Ichihara, Kiyoshi; Barth, Julian H; Klee, George; Shimizu, Yoshihisa; Xia, Liangyu; Hoffmann, Mariza; Shah, Swarup; Matsha, Tandi; Wassung, Janette; Smit, Francois; Ruzhanskaya, Anna; Straseski, Joely; Bustos, Daniel N; Kimura, Shogo; Takahashi, Aki; Özarda, Yeşim; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Tıbbi Biyokimya Anabilim Dalı.; AAL-8873-2021; 35741320500Objectives: The intent of this study, based on a global multicenter study of reference values (RVs) for serum analytes was to explore biological sources of variation (SVs) of the RVs among 12 countries around the world. Methods: As described in the first part of this paper, RVs of 50 major serum analytes from 13,396 healthy individuals living in 12 countries were obtained. Analyzed in this study were 23 clinical chemistry analytes and 8 analytes measured by immunoturbidimetry. Multiple regression analysis was performed for each gender, country by country, analyte by analyte, by setting four major SVs (age, BMI, and levels of drinking and smoking) as a fixed set of explanatory variables. For analytes with skewed distributions, log-transformation was applied. The association of each source of variation with RVs was expressed as the partial correlation coefficient (rp). Results: Obvious gender and age-related changes in the RVs were observed in many analytes, almost consistently between countries. Compilation of age-related variations of RVs after adjusting for between-country differences revealed peculiar patterns specific to each analyte. Judged from the rp, BMI related changes were observed for many nutritional and inflammatory markers in almost all countries. However, the slope of linear regression of BMI vs. RV differed greatly among countries for some analytes. Alcohol and smoking-related changes were observed less conspicuously in a limited number of analytes. Conclusion: The features of sex, age, alcohol, and smoking-related changes in RVs of the analytes were largely comparable worldwide. The finding of differences in BMI-related changes among countries in some analytes is quite relevant to understanding ethnic differences in susceptibility to nutritionally related diseases.Publication A new monoid construction under crossed products(Springer, 2013-12) Emin, Ahmet; Ateş, Firat; İkikardeş, Sebahattin; Cangül, İsmail Naci; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi/Matematik Bölümü.; 57189022403In this paper we define a new monoid construction under crossed products for given monoids. A network is formed by nodes communicating with each other. Graph theory plays a vital role in the area of networking research. A topological index is a numeric quantity obtained from a graph structure which is invariant under graph isomorphism. In this study, we obtained a generalized degree-based topological index, called -Zagreb index of some derived networks such as Sierpinski network, butterfly network, Benes network and mesh-derived network and hence consider some particular cases.Publication Abatacept as a long-term targeted therapy for LRBA deficiency(Elsevier, 2019-12) Kiykim, Ayça; Ogulur, İsmail; Dursun, Esra; Dogruel, Dilek; Karaca, Neslihan Edeer; Cogurlu, Mujde Tuba; Bilir, Ozlem Arman; Cansever, Murat; Kapakli, Hasan; Baser, Dilek; Kasap, Nurhan; Kutlug, Seyhan; Altintas, Derya Ufuk; Al-Shaibi, Ahmad; Agrebi, Nourhen; Kara, Manolya; Guven, Ayla; Somer, Ayper; Aydogmus, Cigdem; Ayaz, Nuray Aktay; Metin, Ayse; Aydogan, Metin; Uncuoglu, Aysen; Patiroglu, Turkan; Yildiran, Alisan; Guner, Sukru Nail; Keles, Sevgi; Reisli, Ismail; Aksu, Guzide; Kutukculer, Necil; Yilmaz, Mustafa; Karakoc-Aydiner, Elif; Lo, Bernice; Ozan, Ahmet; Chatila, Talal A.; Barıs, Safa; Çekiç, Şükrü; Kılıç, Sara Şebnem; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Dahili Bilimler/Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Dahili Bilimler/Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları; 0000-0002-9574-1842; 0000-0001-8571-2581; L-1933-2017; 57094682600; 7102365439BACKGROUND: LPS-responsive beige-like anchor (LRBA) deficiency presents with susceptibility to infections, autoimmunity, and lymphoproliferation. The long-term efficacy of cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 4-immunoglobulin (abatacept) as targeted therapy for its immune dysregulatory features remains to be established. OBJECTIVE: To determine the clinical and immunologic features of LRBA deficiency and long-term efficacy of abatacept treatment in controlling the different disease manifestations. METHODS: Twenty-two LRBA-deficient patients were recruited from different immunology centers and followed prospectively. Eighteen patients on abatacept were evaluated every 3 months for long-term clinical and immunologic responses. LRBA expression, lymphocyte subpopulations, and circulating T follicular helper cells were determined by flow cytometry. RESULTS: The mean age of the patients was 13.4 +/- 7.9 years, and the follow-up period was 3.4 +/- 2.3 years. Recurrent infections (n = 19 [86.4%]), immune dysregulation (n = 18 [81.8%]), and lymphoproliferation (n = 16 [72.7%]) were common clinical features. The long-term benefits of abatacept in 16 patients were demonstrated by complete control of lymphoproliferation and chronic diarrhea followed by immune dysregulation, most notably autoimmune cytopenias. Weekly or every other week administration of abatacept gave better disease control compared with every 4 weeks. There were no serious side effects related to the abatacept therapy. Circulating T follicular helper cell frequencies were found to be a reliable biomarker of disease activity, which decreased on abatacept therapy in most subjects. However, high circulating T follicular helper cell frequencies persisted in 2 patients who had a more severe disease phenotype that was relatively resistant to abatacept therapy. CONCLUSIONS: Long-term abatacept therapy is effective in most patients with LRBA deficiency.Publication Abdominal wall ruptured by blunt trauma in a child(Taylor & Francis, 2000) Kılıç, Nizamettin; Balkan, Emin; Kiriştioğlu, İrfan; Güney, Neşe; Doğruyol, Hasan; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Çocuk Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı.; AAI-3656-2021; 7005266570; 7004109012; 21645753900; 57224254296; 56624750400Publication Abortion due to Streptococcus equi subspecies zooepidemicus in a Mare(TÜBİTAK, 2005) Kocabıyık, Ali Levent; Sönmez, Gürsel; Ülgen, Mihriban; Özakın, Cüneyt; Kocakaya, Esra; Alasonyalılar, Aylin; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/Mikrobiyoloji Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/Patoloji Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Mikrobiyoloji ve Enfeksiyon Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0002-6307-5179; 0000-0001-5428-3630; AAP-7233-2020; AAG-8117-2021; AAG-8392-2021; 6506905121; 55167435000; 56259664500; 57200678942; 8529950600; 8529950700The organs of an aborted equine fetus were examined histopathologically and microbiologically. Diffuse, mild cellular infiltration of neutrophils, lymphocytes and plasma cells was observed in the lamina propria of the intestine. In addition, bacterial colonies were seen in the intestinal content, wall of intestine and liver. Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus was isolated in pure culture from all organs. This is the first report of the isolation of S. equi subsp. zooepidemicus from an aborted equine fetus in Turkey.Publication The abstraction process of limit knowledge(Edam, 2016-11-03) Aydın, Bünyemin; Özbilen, Ömer; Erdoğan, Güneş; Memnun, Dilek Sezgin; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Eğitim Fakültesi/İlköğretim Bölümü.; 0000-0003-3254-8858; ABG-5519-2020; F-4256-2014; K-3286-2015; 57193887049The RBC+C abstraction model is an effective model in mathematics education because it gives the opportunity to analyze research data through cognitive actions. For this reason, we aim to examine the abstraction process of the limit knowledge of two volunteer participant students using the RBC+C abstraction model. With this aim, the students' abstraction processes were examined over recognition, building-with, construction, and consolidation. In the process, three problems that enable students to use their pre-knowledge were designed by the researchers to reveal the students' mathematical thinking levels, abstraction processes, and finally to improve a new structure. These problems were used in the application, and students' dialogues were video-recorded. The semi-constructed interview and observation data-collection methods were used in this process, and one of the researchers participated in the study as a participant observer. The data was analyzed and interpreted by transcribing the video recordings into written text and grouping them into the cognitive actions of the RBC+C model. In conclusion, these students were indicated to have managed recognizing and building-with their pre-knowledge on sequence, function, and infinity, and thus constructing knowledge on limits.Publication Acaricidal, repellent and oviposition deterrent activities of Datura stramonium L. against adult Tetranychus urticae (Koch)(Springer Heidelberg, 2010-05) Çobanoğlu, Sultan; Kumral, Nabi Alper; Yalçın, Cem; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Bitki Koruma Bölümü.; 0000-0001-9442-483X; A-1388-2019; 15846048400; 36062093300The ethanol extracts obtained from both leaf and seed in the Thorn apple (Datura stramonium L.) (Solanaceae) were investigated for acaricidal, repellent and oviposition deterrent properties against adult two-spotted spider mites (Tetranychus urticae Koch) (Acari: Tetranychidae) under laboratory conditions. Leaf and seed extracts, which were applied in 167,250 and 145,750 mg/l concentrations, respectively (using a Petri leaf disc-spray tower method), caused 98 and 25% mortality among spider mite adults after 48 h. The simple logistic regression analysis showed that the independent variable, an increase in the dose of leaf extract was associated with a significant increase in the death rate of T. urticae females, but an increase in the dosage of seed extracts did not have a significant effect. Using probit analysis and estimating the parameters with a confidence limit of 95%, we determined the LC50 values of leaf extract to be 70,593 mg/l. According to Pearson's chi(2) test, mites showed the strongest run off to bean leaf surfaces sprayed with both leaf and seed extracts (in sub-lethal doses: < 7,500 mg/l and < 25,000 mg/l, respectively) and moved towards surfaces that had not been sprayed with extracts. Furthermore, repeated measures ANOVA indicated a significant difference between the number of eggs laid on unsprayed bean leaves compared to bean leaves that were sprayed with leaf and seed extracts at sub-lethal doses, 2,500 and 25,000 mg/l concentrations, respectively. These results suggest that D. stramonium extracts could be used to manage the two-spotted spider mite.Publication Accounting for genetic heterogeneity in homozygosity mapping: Application to Mendelian susceptibility to mycobacterial disease(Bmj Publishing Group, 2011-08) Grant, Audrey V.; Dupuis, Stephanie Boisson; Herquelot, Eleonore; de Beaucoudrey, Ludovic; Santos, Orchidee Filipe; Nolan, Daniel K.; Feinberg, Jacqueline; Boland, Anne; Al-Muhsen, Saleh; Sanal, Özden; Çamcıoğlu, Yıldız; Palanduz, Ayşe; Bustamante, Jacinta; Casanova, Jean-Laurent; Abel, Laurent; Kılıç, Sara Şebnem; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Pediatri Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0001-8571-2581; AAH-1658-2021; 34975059200Introduction Genome-wide homozygosity mapping is a powerful method for locating rare recessive Mendelian mutations. However, statistical power decreases dramatically in the presence of genetic heterogeneity. Methods The authors applied an empirical approach to test for linkage accounting for genetic heterogeneity by calculating the sum of positive per-family multipoint LOD scores (S) across all positions, and obtaining corresponding empirical p values (EmpP) through permutations. Results The statistical power of the approach was found to be consistently higher than the classical heterogeneity LOD by simulations. Among 21 first-cousin matings with a single affected child, for five families linked to a locus of interest and 16 families to other loci, S/EmpP achieved a power of 40% versus 28% for heterogeneity LOD at an alpha level of 0.001. The mean size of peak linkage regions was markedly higher for true loci than false positive regions. The S/EmpP approach was applied to a sample of 17 consanguineous families with Mendelian susceptibility to mycobacterial disease, leading to the identification of two mutations in IL12RB1 and TYK2 from the largest of six linkage regions at p<10(-3). Conclusions The S/EmpP approach is a flexible and powerful approach that can be applied to linkage analysis of families with suspected Mendelian disorders.Publication Accumulation profiles of PrPSc in hemal nodes of naturally and experimentally scrapie-infected sheep(Bmc, 2013-04-19) Dassanayake, Rohana P.; Truscott, Thomas C.; Zhuang, Dongyue; Schneider, David A.; O'Rourke, Katherine I.; Özyiǧit, Musa Özgür; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/Patoloji Anabilim Dalı.; AAR-6478-2021; AAH-2873-2021; 6507338060Background: In classical scrapie, the disease-associated abnormal isoform (PrPSc) of normal prion protein accumulates principally in the nervous system and lymphoid tissues of small ruminants. Lymph nodes traffic leukocytes via lymphatic and blood vasculatures but hemal nodes lack lymphatic vessels and thus traffic leukocytes only via the blood. Although PrPSc accumulation profiles are well-characterized in ovine lymphoid tissues, there is limited information on such profiles in hemal nodes. Therefore, the objective of this study was to compare the follicular accumulation of PrPSc within hemal nodes and lymph nodes by prion epitope mapping and western blot studies. Results: Our studies found that PrPSc accumulation in 82% of animals' abdominal hemal nodes when PrPSc is detected in both mesenteric and retropharyngeal lymph nodes collected from preclinical and clinical, naturally and experimentally (blood transfusion) scrapie-infected sheep representing all three major scrapie-susceptible Prnp genotypes. Abdominal hemal nodes and retropharyngeal lymph nodes were then used to analyze immune cell phenotypes and PrPSc epitope mapping by immunohistochemistry and PrPSc banding patterns by western blot. Similar patterns of PrPSc accumulation were detected within the secondary follicles of hemal nodes and retropharyngeal lymph nodes, where cellular labeling was mostly associated with macrophages and follicular dendritic cells. The pattern of PrPSc accumulation within hemal nodes and retropharyngeal lymph nodes also did not differ with respect to epitope mapping with seven mAbs (N-terminus, n = 4; globular domain, n = 2; C-terminus, n = 1) in all three Prnp genotypes. Western blot analysis of hemal node and retropharyngeal lymph node homogenates revealed identical three banding patterns of proteinase K resistant PrPSc. Conclusion: Despite the anatomical difference in leukocyte trafficking between lymph nodes and hemal nodes, the follicles of hemal nodes appear to process PrPSc similarly to lymph nodes.Publication Acid proteinase enzyme activity in Candida albicans strains: A comparison of spectrophotometry and plate methods(TÜBİTAK, 2011) Akçağlar, Sevim; Ener, Beyza; Töre, Okan; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Mikrobiyoloji ve Enfeksiyon Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0002-4803-8206; AAG-8523-2021; 6506194958; 15053025300; 6505909596In recent years, the incidence of fungal infections has been rising all over the world. Although the amount of research in the field of pathogenic fungi has also increased, there is still a need for studies on fungal virulence. In this investigation, we focused on testing bloodstream-identified Candida albicans in experimental in vitro virulence assays. The proteinase enzyme activities of 30 C. albicans strains isolated from the bloodstream and sterile body fluids were investigated (15 colonizations, 15 infections). The spectrophotometric and plate methods were used to determine proteinase activity. The correlations between the 2 methods were compared. This study indicates that, in terms of proteinase activity, there were no statistically significant differences between strains obtained from infection and colonization sites by either method (P > 0.05).Publication Aci̇l servi̇ste i̇nme tanısı almış 65 yaş üzeri̇ hastaların retrospekti̇f kli̇ni̇k ve görüntüleme özelli̇kleri̇nin deǧerlendi̇ri̇lmesi̇(Güneş Kitabevi, 2013) İnal, Taylan; Armaǧan, Erol; Köse, Ataman; Köksal, Özlem; Özdemír, Fatma; Akköse, Şule; Balcı, Arif Kadri; Demir, Aylin Bircan; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Acil Tıp Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Nöroloji Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0003-2271-5659; AAH-8846-2021; AAK-8332-2020; L-7334-2015; AAM-7896-2020; 55695563500; 6506464232; 15755792500; 23389880200; 7006765911; 6603347542; 57225396135; 57217395786Introduction: Elderly population in the World has been increasing gradually. In terms of emergency service, the elderly constitute a special group. We aimed to study the demographic, clinical, and imaging findings in patients who are 65 years and older presented to Emergency Department. Materials and Method: By obtaining the data of the patients with stroke diagnosis, who are 65 and older and who applied to Emergency Department between 01.01.2011 and 29.02.2012, demographic, clinical, and imaging findings were investigated and then compared among 65-74, 75-84 ve >85 age groups in this study. Results: According to the study results, among the age groups of 65-74, 75-84 and >= 85, significant difference was not found out between gender, complaints for application, duration of complaints, and comorbidities. Similarly, among physical examination findings such as consciousness, eye movements, visual fields, facial nerve examinations, lower and upper extremity motor functions, ataxia, negligence, aphasia, dysarthria, and NIHSS scores, statistically significant difference was not established. Besides, no significant difference was found among diagnoses, Cranial Computed Tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings. Following the statistical analyses, the parameters revealing significant differences among age groups were conscious status, sense examinations, infarct in Cranial Computed Tomography, and bleeding sides. Conclusion: As a result of our study, we have seen that etiology of stroke may alter along with advancing age, however; in terms of clinical characteristics and patient results in hospitalization, discharge and mortality statistically significant differences were not observed.Publication Acquisition of English ergative verbs by Turkish students: Yesterday and today(Elsevier, 2009) Uzunboylu, H.; Çavuş, N.; Can, Abdullah; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Eğitim Fakültesi/Yabancı Diller Eğitimi Bölümü.; 26656513300This study tries to diagnose the acquisition of a special subclass of intransitive verbs, namely ergatives, by Turkish learners of English by comparing the (partial) results of the study carried out in 2000 (as an MA Thesis) with the results of its replication conducted in 2007. In both studies all the variables were the same. Proficiency levels were determined via a cloze test and a grammaticality judgment test with various subclasses of intransitives was administered. Results of the study have revealed that proficiency levels of the participants have increased in seven years, but paired ergative verbs have remained the most problematic subclass of intransitives in both studies.Publication Activation-induced cytidine deaminase expression in human b cell precursors ıs essential for central b cell tolerance(Cell Press, 2015-11-17) Cantaert, Tineke; Schickel, Jean Nicolas; Bannock, Jason M.; Ng, Yen Shing; Massad, Christopher; Oe, Tyler; Wu, Renee; Lavoie, Aubert; Walter, Jolan E.; Notarangelo, Luigi D.; Herz, Waleed Al; Ochs, Hans D.; Nonoyama, Shigeaki; Durandy, Anne; Meffre, Eric; Kılıç, Sara Şebnem; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; AAH-1658-2021; 0000-0001-8571-2581; 34975059200Activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID), the enzyme- mediating class-switch recombination (CSR) and somatic hypermutation (SHM) of immunoglobulin genes, is essential for the removal of developing autoreactive B cells. How AID mediates central B cell tolerance remains unknown. We report that AID enzymes were produced in a discrete population of immature B cells that expressed recombination-activating gene 2 (RAG2), suggesting that they undergo secondary recombination to edit autoreactive antibodies. However, most AID(+) immature B cells lacked anti-apoptotic MCL-1 and were deleted by apoptosis. AID inhibition using lentiviral-encoded short hairpin (sh)RNA in B cells developing in humanized mice resulted in a failure to remove autoreactive clones. Hence, B cell intrinsic AID expression mediates central B cell tolerance potentially through its RAG-coupled genotoxic activity in self-reactive immature B cells.Publication Acute and chronic eggshell temperature manipulations during hatching term influence hatchability, broiler performance, and ascites incidence(Elsevier, 2015-02) Sözcü, A.; İpek, A.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Zootekni Bölümü.; 0000-0002-0955-4371; 0000-0001-5544-2330; AAA-5866-2020; AAH-2551-2021; 56032385300; 56208332300The aim of the current study was to determine how a control temperature and acute and chronic high eggshell temperatures during the last three days of incubation, can affect hatchability, chick quality, and organ development on day of hatch as well as broiler performance and ascites incidence in later life. The eggshell temperature manipulations were applied during hatching term (days 19 to 21) as follows: control EST (37.3 to 38.0 degrees C), acute high eggshell temperature manipulations (38.4- to 39.0 degrees C for three hours daily) and chronic high eggshell temperature manipulations (38.4 to 39.0 degrees C). The lowest hatchability and the highest cull chick rate were in the chronic high eggshell temperature manipulations group. Lower chick quality parameters correlated with lower chick weights and heavier residual yolk sac weights that were in the chronic high eggshell temperature manipulations group depending on hatch time. The live weights on the 1st day of the growing period were higher in the control and acute high eggshell temperature manipulations groups than the chronic high eggshell temperature manipulations group. At 6 wk of age, live weights of broilers were the highest in the control than in the acute and chronic high eggshell temperature manipulations groups. The total mortality was 2.5, 9.2, and 13.3%, the mortality due to ascites was 2.1, 8.3, and 12.9% in the control, acute, and chronic high eggshell temperature manipulations groups, respectively. The right ventricular/total ventricular ratios for the control, acute and chronic high eggshell temperature manipulations groups were 0.22, 0.28, and 0.30%, respectively. In conclusion, short-term and long-term higher temperatures during the hatching term affect embryo development, incubation results, broiler performance, and ascites incidence. Although the acute high eggshell temperature manipulations did not affect the chick quality parameters at hatch, it negatively affected incubation results and broiler performance, especially mortality due to ascites.Publication Acute effects of dynamic stretching on peak and end-range functional hamstring/quadriceps strength ratios(Ortadoğu Yayınları, 2010-02) Şekir, Ufuk; Arabacı, Ramiz; Akova, Bedrettin; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Spor Hekimliği Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Spor Bilimleri Fakültesi/Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Öğretmenliği Bölümü.; 0000-0003-2735-8697; 0000-0001-8403-5742; 0000-0003-1044-8805; AAI-4550-2021; AAM-4348-2020; ABI-4831-2020; 8086677600; 24448984800; 6507563417Objective: Although recent studies have shown that dynamic stretching may improve individual muscle strength performance, its effects on the functional hamstring/quadriceps (H/Q) strength ratio and thus on injury risk characteristics has not been investigated in depth. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of dynamic stretching on functional H/Q strength ratios for iso-kinetic knee extension and flexion at peak and end range moments in elite women athletes. Material and Methods: A total of twelve healthy elite competitive female athletes (mean age 20 +/- 2 years, mean height 166 6 cm, mean weight 58 +/- 7 kg) volunteered to participate in the study. All subjects completed a non-stretching (control) or a dynamic stretching intervention protocol in a randomized fashion on separate days. The quadriceps and hamstring muscles were stretched during these protocols. Before (pre) and after (post) the intervention, the functional H/Q strength ratio was calculated at 60 degrees.s-1 and 180 degrees.s-1 angular velocities. Results: The strength ratio for knee extension displayed a significant increase and for knee flexion a significant decrease following dynamic stretching during the entire and end range of motion at both angular velocities (p<0.05). Conclusion: The effects of dynamic stretching on functional H/Q strength ratios suggest that the functional H/Q ratio do change positively following a dynamic stretching routine.
