Previously isolated ovine adenovirus type 5 (OA5 ) was adapted and propagated in the primary and secondary tissue cultures of calf testicular epithelium, to primary cultures of calf renal epithelium, and MDBK cell cultures. Neutralizing antibodies against this virus were found in 22.29 % of blood sera obtained from 700 sheep coming from different parts of Turkey. The concentration of neutralizing antibodies was ranging from 1/3.98 to 1/431.6 when the positive sera was titrated. These results suggested that tha adenovirus infections by OA5 in sheep in Turkey are remarkably frequently detectable and this requires the same measurements and special care before it is too Iate.
