Publication A numerical analysis of hybrid spur gears with asymmetric teeth: Stress and dynamic behavior(Mdpi, 2022-11-01) KARADERE, GÜLTEKİN; KARPAT, FATİH; Karpat, Fatih; Karadere, Gültekin; Mühendislik Fakültesi; 0000-0003-3772-7871; 0000-0001-8474-7328; V-6153-2017; A-5259-2018Hybrid gears are composed of high-strength steel, carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), and adhesive bond to join these materials. In this study, the effect of rack tip radius (TR), drive side pressure angle (DSPA), and rim thickness (RT) on the stress of hybrid gears is investigated numerically. In addition, the stress results of hybrid gears are compared with steel gears that are used for validation of the numerical results. Single tooth stiffness (STS) values are calculated based on tooth deformations obtained from numerical analyses. The 2-DOF model is used to observe the influence of DSPA and RT on the dynamic factor (DF) and static transmission error (STE). According to the results, increasing RT has a positive effect on stress, STS, and STE, while DSPA is effective on the dynamic factor at most.Publication Non-linear elastic waves in a finite bar made of a material having non-linear stress-strain relation(Pamukkale Univ, 2006-01-01) Pala, Yaşar; PALA, YAŞAR; Bademci, Özkan; Karadere, Gültekin; KARADERE, GÜLTEKİN; Mühendislik Fakültesi; Makine Mühendisliği Bölümü; AAI-8193-2021This study is devoted to the non-linear elastic wave motion in a finite bar made of a material obeying non-linear stress-strain relation. Non-linear governing partial differential equation is separated into two non-linear ordinary differential equations using a new method for the separation. Analytical solution satisfying boundary and initial conditions are constructed from the proper solutions of equations. Stresses, wave velocities and displacements in the rod are found for arbitrary conditions. Two methods are developed. While the first method brings a limitation on the solution, the second one removes this problem by selecting more practically logical conditions. The present method is also applicable to elastic-plastic wave motion in rods of engineering materials. On the contrary to Karman-Donnel elasto-plastic wave theory developed for semi infinite bars subjected to initial velocity condition only, the present method proves to be useful for rods of finite lengths subjected to both initial and boundary conditions.Publication Analytical solution of direct dynamics problem in cylindrical coordinates(Asce-amer Soc Civil Engineers, 2004-09-01) Pala, Yasin; Güney, İbrahim; Karadere, Gültekin; Pala, Yasin; Güney, İbrahim; KARADERE, GÜLTEKİN; Mühendislik Fakültesi; Makine Mühendisliği Bölümü; 0000-0001-8290-6532; A-6325-2013; ABF-8301-2020; FSI-9682-2022; HPH-3282-2023In this study, the analytical solution of the direct dynamics problem that mostly requires some numerical techniques is developed for two important cases. In the first case, two coupled differential equations of the motion of a particle acted upon by the constant radial force F-r and tangential force F-theta are solved. The analytical solution for the case of variable radial force F-r = -kr and the constant tangential force F-theta is considered as a second stage. The present method is applied to some practical engineering problems.
