Üniversite öğrencilerinin toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine ilişkin tutumları üzerinde ailenin etkisi

Abstract

Dezavantajlı gruplarla ilgili olarak uluslararası ve ulusal alanda pek çok çalışma yapılmaktadır. Bu grupların içinde yer alan inceleme konularından birisini de kadınlar oluşturmaktadır. Tarih boyunca kadınlara yönelik eşitlik mücadelesi devam etmektedir. Gelinen son noktada gerek sosyal hayatın eşit paylaşımı gerekse kaynaklara erişim noktasında istenilen eşitlik düzeyine ulaşılamamıştır. Cinsiyet eşitliği öğretilerinin başladığı kurumlardan biri ailedir. Sosyalleşilen ilk alan olarak aile, bireyin hayata bakışını şekillendiren önemli kurumların başında gelmektedir. Yapılan çalışmada üniversite öğrencilerinin toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine ilişkin tutumları üzerinde ailenin etkisi incelenmek istenmiştir. Araştırma, Bursa Teknik Üniversitesinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada ilk olarak öğrencilerin ve ailelerinin sosyo-demografik özellikleri analiz edilmiştir. Daha sonra öğrencilere, ailelerinde var olan ilişkiler sistemini analiz etmek için çeşitli yargılar yöneltilmiş ve bu yargılara verilen cevaplar ile öğrencilerin kendi görüşleri karşılaştırılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin %94’ü ev işlerinden hem kadının hem de erkeğin sorumlu olması gerektiğini, %99,3’ü ise evlendikten sonra kadının çalışmasının uygun olduğunu düşünmektedir. Öğrencilerin aile yapılarında, ailelerin eğitim düzeyi de göz önünde bulundurularak genel anlamda eşitlikçi bir yaklaşımın olduğu görülmektedir.

There are many international and national studies on disadvantaged groups. Women constitute one of the groups analyzed within the scope of these groups. Although the struggle for equality for women has continued throughout history, the desired equality regarding equal sharing of social life and access to resources has still not been achieved. As a socialization space, the family is one of the most important institutions that shape an individual’s view of life, and it can be said that it is one of the first institutions where gender equality teachings begin. This study examines family’s effect on university students’ attitudes towards gender roles. The research was carried out at Bursa Technical University in Türkiye. First, the socio-demographic characteristics of the students and their families were analyzed. Then, to analyze the relationship system in the students’ families, various judgments were asked of the students, and the answers given to these judgments were compared with the students’ opinions. Of the students who participated in the study, 94% thought that both men and women should be responsible for housework, and 99.3% thought that it was appropriate for women to work after marriage. Considering the educational level of the families, it is seen that there is a general egalitarian approach in the family structures of the students.
