Câmî-i Rûm’dan Muhteşem Süleyman’a mektup

Abstract

Osmanlı imparatorluğunda sultanlar ve üst düzey devlet görevlileri, sanata va sanatçıya olan yakın ilgileri ile bilinirler. Bu ilgi kendini sanatçılara ve sanat eserlerine yapılan destekle kendini gösterir. Hatta bu yakınlık bazen eserlerin muhtevasına ve şekline müdahale şeklinde bile ortaya çıkabilir. XVI. yüzyıl Türk edebiyatının önemli ediplerinden Lâmi’î Çelebi, kırktan fazla eserin sahibidir. “Câmî-i Rûm” olarak da bilinen şair “Vâmık u Azrâ” isimli eserini sultana sunarken, bir de mektup göndermiştir. Bu mektupta eserin hangi şartlarda ve nasıl telif/tercüme edildiğini anlatılır. Sultana medh ve Allah’a dua ile başlayan eser, Kanûnî’nin emri ile yazılmış ve Kazasker Kâdirî Çelebi’nin desteğini almıştır. Mektubunda eseri 5 ayda ve 6000 beyit olarak yazdığını belirten şair, Kânûnî Sultan Süleyman’ın Rodos kalesini fethini de kutlar. Lâmi’î Çelebi’nin Kânûnî’ye yazdığı ve Türk edebiyatı için büyük öneme sahip olan bu mektup, aynı zamanda yazılı kaynaklarda yer almayan ya da farklı olarak anlatılan konulara ışık tutar.

The sultan’s and the higher echelan of the Ottoman Empire were known to be protecting the artists by their workpatronizing. Sometimes they were interfering the artist’s work in return for their support. Lâmi'î Çelebi (d. 938/1532), one of the prominent figures of 16th century Turkish Literature, has got more than forty works. The poet, known as "Câmi-i Rûm", also sent a letter to Sulaiman the Magnificient while submitting his Vâmık u Azrâ, to the Sultan. The letter telling how and under which circumstances the Mesnevi of Vâmık u Azrâ was written begins with preying to God and the Sultan. The Mesnevi was written upon the order of Sulaiman the Magnificient and was supported by the chief military Judge Kadirî Çelebi. The poet, who stated that he wrote the Mesnevi in five months and in about 6000 couplets, congratulates the Sultan on his conquest of Rhodes Castle. Lâmi'î Çelebi's letter to Sulaiman the Magnificient, which is of great importance for the history of Turkish Literature, also sheds light on the information that does not appear at all, or appears differently, in written sources.
