Abstract
This research has been carried out to de termine the effect of ad libitum and restricted feeding on fattening performance, feed consumption and fattening cost. The material cönmted of 100 head Merino lam bı aged 14-15 week and put in to 4 groupı, 2 of whicls reared on bedding and remaining on wooden slatted floor. Concentrate ration was stable for all group as well as 100 g/days head of alfalfa hay. Two of the total groups, one from slatted floor and one from bedding, fed on ad libitum basis while the other fed an amount of 20% less than the daily feed consumption of ad libiturri fed groups. The begining live weights were 20.8 ± 0.48, 20.4 ± 0.34, 20.6 ± 0.34 and ı9. 9 ± 0.35 kg for the groups (ed ad fibitum on slatted floor, restriction on slatted floor ad libitum on bedding an restriction on bedding, respectiuely. Fattening period lasted 70 dayı and the total live weight gains were 15.9 ± 0.65, ı3.9 ± 0.58, ı4.8 ± 0.58 and ı3.8 ± 0 .64 kg, respectively for the same order again. In respect to daily gains, 227:3 ± 9.25, ı99.0 ± 8.3ı, 2ı2.0 ± 8.22 and . ı97. ı ± 9.ı2 were found during the fattening period while 5.622, 5.0ı5, 5.580 and 4.905 kg for feed consumption for 1 kg live weight gain and 464.27, 464.01, 460.50 and 459.71 TL. were the values 1or the cost of 1 kg liue weight, respectively with the same order determined above. Analyits showed that only one group that was fed on ad libitum basis differed from the others significantly in respect to live weight at the end of the fattening period (P < 0.050) and this situation was supposed to be cauud by different fattening systems.
