Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of 8-week machine-based strength training, applied in addition to tennis branch-specific training, on vertical jump, standing long jump and 20 meter speed of tennis athletes between the ages of 12-14.A total of 24 licensed tennis athletes (11 girls, 13 boys) were included in thestudy. The athletes were randomly divided into two groups: control group (12 athletes) and experimental group (12 athletes). In addition to daily tennis training, theexperimental group did machine-based strength training two days a week. The controlgroup continued the tennis technical and tactical training program. The research lastedeight weeks, and at the end of the eight weeks, the tests applied in the pre-test (vertical jump, standing long jump and 20 meter sprint) were re-applied and recorded as the post-test. The data obtained were compared using independent groups t-test in SPSS 26.0 program. Upon analysis, no statistically significant differences were found between the control and experimental groups in terms of age, years of sports experience, bodyweight, height, or body mass index (p<0.05). Additionally, no significant differences were observed in pre-test and post-test results for vertical jump, standing long jump, and 20-meter sprint tests within both the experimental and control groups (p<0.05). Conclusively, the findings of this study indicate that an 8-week machine-basedstrength training program, when combined with tennis-specific training, did not yield significant improvements in vertical jump, standing long jump, or 20-meter sprint performance among 12-14-year-old tennis players.
