Abstract
Nowadays, the number of electric vehicles has increased rapidly, and scientific studies have gained momentum at the same rate. Accurate analysis of the battery pack, which is one of the most critical subsystems for the electric vehicle technology, affects vital performance criteria that directly concern the user from driving performance to the range. Within the scope of this study, first degree electrical and thermal mathematical models of the lithium-ion battery cell to be used in the battery pack of the electric vehicle were created in MATLAB & SIMULINK program. The simulation outputs were verified with an approximately 0.4% error as a result of the discharge tests performed on the battery cell. The thermal model of the battery was confirmed by the thermal analysis performed in the ANSYS program, and the measurements performed with the thermal imager with a 2% error value. As a result, the mathematical model of the verified battery cell can be easily adapted to electric vehicle models, allowing theoretical simulations and algorithms to operate under operational conditions.
