Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the performance of some improved safflower lines 37/5, 38/4, 43/11, 55/14 and 58/11 which were developed by single seed selection method, and Dinçer, Remzibey-05 and Balcı were used as standard varieties. Plant height, branch number per plant, head number per plant, thousand seed weight, seed yield, oil content and oil yield were investigated in the study. The results showed that there were no significant differences among safflower lines for plant height and branch number. Compared to standard cultivars, higher head number in 37/5 and 38/4, heavier seed weight in 43/11 and 55/14, higher seed yield in 37/5, 55/14 and 58/11, and oil content in 37/5 and 43/11 were obtained. Among the investigated safflower genotypes, the highest oil yield in 2012 was determined in Dinçer with 50.3 kg/da and line 37/5 with 49.5 kg/da while line 55/14 with 60.2 kg/da and 58/11 with 50.0 kg/da were observed in 2013. It was concluded that line 55/14 for seed yield and line 43/11 for oil content were determined as promising candidate for registration.
