Abstract
Davûd el-Kayserî, Save asıllı olmakla birlikte Kayseri’de dünyaya gelmiş, ilk eğitimi orada aldıktan sonra dönemin ilim merkezleri olan Karaman’a ardından Mısır’a gitmiştir. Mısır’da temel dini bilimleri öğrenen Kayserî, İran’a geçmiş ve ölünceye kadar yanında kalacağı hocas Kaşanî ile karşılaşmıştır. Kaşanî’nin ölümü sonrası Osmanlı Sultanı Orhan’ın daveti ile İznik’e gelmiş ve yeni yapılan medreseye hoca tayin edilmiştir. Tasavvuf, kelam ve felsefe alanında iyi yetişmiş olan Kayserî, hocası Kaşanî gibi İbn Arabî’in takipçilerindendir. Başta Fususü’l-hikem şerhi olmak üzere İbn Arabî düşüncesi çerçevesinde verdiği eserler yıllardır önemini korumuş ve insanları etkilemiştir. Bu gün dahi bu eserler entelektüel çevrelerde önemsenmekte ve izlenmektedir.
Daud al-Qaysari is an sufi and philosopher. After finishing his education in Qaysari he travelled to Karaman and Egypt to increase his knowledge. After that he travelled to İran and met with al-Kashani there. After meeting with him he entered into the sufi path. At the request of Ottoman king Orhan he went to İznik and was appointed as chief professor to the madrasah that was built newly by Orhan in 1330 AD. He lived there until the end of his life. He died in 1350. Daud al-Qaysari became prominent figure especially in the fields of sufism and Kalam and philosophy. He made an important contribution towards the recognition of Ibn Arabi’s School in Ottoman society and he had a great influence on the Ottoman intellectual an cultural life.
