Abstract

Foetal mummification and necrotic metritis were seen concurrently in a six-month-old New Zealand white rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus). Two dead foetuses were aborted at day 19 post mating and three mummified foetuses were expelled at day 25. Depression, lethargy and shock followed. At necropsy, although the left uterine horn was normal, the right was observed as a necrotic caseated mass, histologically confirmed as necrotic metritis.
