Abstract
Çalışmamızın amacı, ependimal tümörlerde Ki67 proliferatif aktivite indeksi (PI)’nin yaş, cinsiyet, tümör grade’i, alt tipleri, sellülarite, pleomorfizm, nekroz, atipik endotel proliferasyonu gibi parametrelerle korelasyonunun belirlenmesidir.
In this study, we aimed to investigate the proliferative activity of ependymomas determined as Ki67 proliferative activity index (PI), and correlate it with parameters such as age, sex, subtype, grade, cellularity, pleomorphism, necrosis or atypic endotelial proliferation. Fifty-eight ependymoma cases diagnosed and operated at Uludağ University from 1997 to 2009 were included in the study. Histologic evaluation was made from the archive prearations which were stained with H-E, GFAP, Ki67 and EMA. There were 38 men (%65.51) and 20 women (%34.49) between the age of 2-72 (mean=33.91±19.50). Although no relation was found between the sex and Ki67 PI; a negative relation was found with age(r=-0.349; p=0.007). Histologically, 3 of the tumors were grade 1 (%5.2), 45 grade 2 (%77.6) and 10 grade 3 (%17.2). A significant relation was found between Ki67 PI and histological grade (r=0.363;p=0.005). While there was a relation between Ki67 PI and cellularity (r=0.289; p=0.028); no significant relation was found with pleomorphism and necrosis (r=0.156, p=0.153). Also there was no relation with endothelial proliferation and the staining patterns of GFAP and EMA with Ki67 PI (p=0.104, p=0.182 ve p=0.567). A significant correlation was found between the grade and cellularity with Ki67 PI
