Abstract
Bu araştırmanın amacı, Anaokuluna devam eden 5 yaş grubu çocuklara sayı ve işlem kavramlarını kazandırmada oyun yönteminin etkisinin olup olmadığını ortaya koymaktır. Araştırma deneysel yöntemle yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2009-2010 Eğitim-Öğretim yılında Bursa ilinin Osmangazi ilçesinde bulunan Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı bağımsız bir anaokuluna devam eden 5 yaş grubu çocuklar oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın örneklemini oluşturmak için 5 yaş grubu çocuklardan seçkisiz atama yoluyla 15 kız 15 erkek olmak üzere 30 çocuk belirlenmiştir. Daha sonra yine seçkisiz atama ile deney ve kontrol grupları belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın verilerini toplamak için Arnas, Gül ve Sığırtmaç (2003) tarafından geliştirilmiş “48-86 Ay Çocuklar İçin Sayı ve İşlem Kavramları Testi” nin, Sezer tarafından 5 yaş grubuna uygun olmayan 21 maddesi çıkarılarak hazırlanmış şekli kullanılmıştır. Öncelikle sayı ve işlem kavramları testinin deney ve kontrol grubuna “ön test” uygulanmasından sonra araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen “Oyun Temelli Sayı ve İşlem Kavramları Programı” deney grubuna uygulanmıştır. Deney grubunda Sayı ve işlem kavramları oyun yöntemiyle verilmiş, kontrol grubu ise mevcut okul öncesi programına devam etmişlerdir. Program uygulandıktan sonra “Sayı ve İşlem Kavramları Testi” deney ve kontrol gruplarına son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler SPSS17 paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada grupların ön test puanları arasında anlamlı fark olmamasına rağmen, öntest puanları eşit olmadığı için grupların ilerleme puanlarına bakmak yeterli olmuştur. İlerleme puanları arasındaki farklılığın anlamlı olup olmadığını bulmak için de Mann-Whitney U testi analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda deney grubundaki çocukların sayı ve işlem kavramları başarısında kontrol grubuna göre anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur. Bir başka deyişle oyun yönteminin çocukların sayı ve işlem kavramlarını kazanmalarında önemli bir etkisinin olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca fark puanları ortalamalarını karşılaştırdığımızda deney grubunun fark puanları ortalaması, kontrol grubunun fark puanları ortalamasından anlamlı derecede yüksek çıktığı için deney grubuna uygulanan “Oyun temelli sayı ve işlem kavramları programı” etkili olmuştur diyebiliriz.
The aim of this research was to find out whether the game method has an effect on gaining number and operation concepts in the five year olds attending kindergarten. The research was conducted on an experimental design. The study group consists of the five year olds attending a detached kindergarten affiliated with National Education Ministry in 2009- 2010 academic year in Osmangazi, Bursa. In order to form the research’s sample, 30 children including 15 boys and 15 girls in five years old period was chosen by randomization. Later experiment and control groups were also determined by randomization. In order to collect the data of the research, from “The Number and Operation Concepts Test for 48-86 Months Children”, developed by Arnas, Gül and Sığırtmaç (2003), Sezer’s version, in which 21 articles were omitted due to unsuitability for the five year olds, was used. Primarily, the number and operation concepts test was applied to the experiment and the control group as preliminary test and after that “Game Based Number and Operation Concepts Program” , which was developed by researcher, was applied to the experiment group. While in the experiment group, number and operation concepts were given by game method, the control group continued their original pre-school curriculum. After the program was put in practice, “The Number and Operation Concepts Test” was applied to the experiment and the control group as the final test. The data collected in the research was analyzed by using SPSS17 packet program. Although there was no significant variation in preliminary test points between groups in this research,it was enough to check the development points of the groups due to disparity in preliminary test points. In order to find out whether there was a significant variation between development points or not, Mann-Whitney U test analysis was used. As a result of the research, a significant variation was found out in the experiment group children’s success in the number and operation concepts with regard to the control group. In other words, it has been observed that the game method had a significant effect on children’s gaining the number and operation concepts. Moreover, because when we compare the variation points, variation points’ average of the experiment group was significantly higher than the variation points’s average of the control group, we can say that “Game Based Number and Operation Concepts Program” which was applied to the experiment group was effective.
