Abstract
Siyanobakterilerden elde edilen önemli pigmentler; klorofil a, β-karoten, asta-ksantin, fikosiyanin, ksantofil ve fikoeritrin'dir. Fikosiyanin mavi renkli, kokusuz, toksik olmayan, suda çözünebilen, güçlü floresan özelliğe sahip doğal bir renk maddesidir. Bu pigmentler gıda, eczacılık, tekstil ve kozmetikte, kanserojen olduğundan şüphe edilen sentetik pigmentlerin yerine, doğal pigmentler olarak kullanılabilmektedir. Floresan özelliklerinden dolayı mikroskopi, sitometri, bağışıklık, doku kimyası çalışmalarında floresan prob olarak kullanılmaktadırlar. Ayrıca, antioksidan ve radikalleri uzaklaştırıcı etkilerinden dolayı, nutrasötik ve farmasötik olarak kullanılma potansiyeline de sahiptirler. Bu bağlamda fikosiyanin üretimine ve kullanımına olan ilgi son yıllarda giderek artmaktadır.
Important pigments from Cyanobacteria are chlorophyll a, β-carotene, asta-xanthine, phycocyanin, xanthophylls and phycoerythrin. Phycocyanin which is a natural colour substance, blue coloured, odourless, nontoxic, soluble in water, high fluorescent. These pigments can be used as natural pigments instead of synthetic pigments which are suspected carcinogens in food, pharmacy and cosmetic. They are used as fluorescence probe in microscopy, cytometry, immunology, histochemistry studies because of their fluorescent property. Additionally, they have potentials of usage as nutraceutical and pharmaceutical because of their effects of antioxidant and removing radicals. In this context, interest to production and usage of phycocyanin is increasing in recent years.
