Abstract
Vakıflar tarafından finanse edilen imaretler, Osmanlı sosyal hayatının önemli kurumları arasındadır. Bu kurumlar daha çok padişahlar tarafından ihdas edilmekle beraber, ileri gelen devlet adamları ve varlık sahibi kişiler tarafından kurulan imaretler de vardır. Bu müesseselerde fakir vatandaşlar, vakıf personeli ve medrese talebelerinin iâşesi temin edilirdi. Bu makalede Bursa’da kurulmuş beş büyük imaret incelenmektedir.
The Imarat (the kitchens for the poor) financed by the Waqfs were important institutions in the Ottoman social life. They were mostly established by the Sultans as well as the high rank statesmen and the rich. In these institutions, not only the poor but also the waqf personnel and the madrasah students were provided for their daily food. This article investigates five of these important imârât in Bursa.
