Abstract
The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effects of zeolite used as a filler on the weight gain, feed consumption and vitality of broyler chickens. In this inuestigation 4 groups were made and the first group having no zeolite was used as a control group. 2.5; 5 and 10 % of zeolite were added to the other groups, respectively. During eight weeks investigation; average total live weights of the chickens were found as 1762; 1683; 1657 and 1344 gr, according to the groups. Total feed consumptions of these groups were alsa recorded as 4142; 4327; 4316 and 3964 gr, respectively. Feed consumptions per 1 kg weight gain were calculated in the amounts of 2.40; 2.63; 2.67 and 3.03 kg. In the groups consumed the diffe• rent amounts of zeolit; weight gain was obtained less than in the control group. Although the difference between the weight gain of the 2. and 3. groups was not important; weight gain of the 4. groups was less than the other groups (P < 0.01). It was seen that the feed efficiencies decrease with increasing the amount of zeolite added to the rations. These efficiency measurements were not affected by the amounts of zeolite. But, in order to make decision about zeolite; the followings must be considered. 1) Quality of the zeolite added to the rations must be controlled whether it has toxic and growth inhibitor matters or not. 2) Both energy and protein levels of the rations used in the experiment were adjusted to the approximately same.
