Abstract
The research was carried out to determine effect of diets supplied 3-6 % plant oil and animal fat on fattening performance and carcass characteristics of male Belina turkeys conducted to intensive fattening. The trial was carried out with 200 male turkeys alloted to four groups for 96 days. Turkeys were fed with pelleted rations including 3-6 % animal fat and 3-6 % plant oil whiclı had equal protein and energy levels. Initial live weight final weight and average daily liveweight gain of the groups were 1.96, 1.99, 1.96 and 2.03 kg; 8.4~ 9.06, 8.82 and 9.36 kg; 67.85, 73.81, 71.38 and 76.46 kg respectively. Average daily feed consumption and feed consumption for 1 kg of liveweight gain of the groups were determined as 340.4, 349.5, 328.6 and 345.5 g and 5.017, 4.735, 4.604 and 4.519 kg respectively. It has been determined that, instead of source of ration fat, fat level of the ration affected fattening performance of turkeys and abdominal fatness was increased in relation with increase of the fat level of the rations. Meanwhile it was seen that liveweight gain and feed efficiency of Turkeys increased with the increase of fat levels of the rations also.
