Abstract
Kıbrıslı Rumların adanın bir Yunan adası haline gelmesi yönündeki girişimlerinin 1950’li yıllarda BM tarafından kabul görmemesi, ardından yapılan halkoylaması ve sonrasındaki diplomatik girişimlerin de başarısızlıkla sonuçlanmasıyla Yunanistan destekli EOKA tedhiş teşkilatı kurulur ve 1960 yılında kurulan Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti bile Yunanistan ve Kıbrıslı Rumların Enosis isteklerini engelleyemez. Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti anayasası ise adada yaşayan Maruni, Ermeni ve çingeneleri azınlık olarak kabul eder. Özellikle 1963 sonrasında başlayan süreçte adada yaşayan Ermeni ve Maruniler adayı terk etmeye başlarlar. Bugün adanın kuzeyinde Ermeni nüfus bulunmazken az sayıda Maruni ve Gurbet yaşamaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında adada yaşayan Ermeni, Maruni ve Gurbetlerin geçmişi irdelenecek ve bugün adanın özellikle kuzeyinde Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti topraklarında yaşayan azınlıkların durumu irdelenecektir.
The fact that Greek Cypriot and Greek efforts to hellenize the island of Cyprus in 1950’s were not accepted by the UN, that the plebicit carried out then was given no fertile result direct Greece so as to establish a terrorist organization named EOKA an deven the foundation of the Republic of Cyprus cannot stop Greece and the Greek Cypriots living on the island from the utopic idea of Enosis. The constitution of the Republic of Cyprus accepts the Maronites, Armenians, and the Gurbets as the minorities. Especially after the 1963 conflict and the chaotic atmosphere, almost all the minorities including the Maronites, and Armenians start leaving the island. No Armenian is living in the northern part of the island today except some Maronites and Gurbets as well. This scientific study will focus on the historical background of these above-mentioned minorities as well as the Gurbets on the island, and the general situation of these societies, especially living in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
