Abstract
The aim of this research was to determine total aflatoxin, ochratoxin, T-2 toxin, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone and fumonisin levels of 60 corn silage samples collected in Burdur province between December 2006-May 2007. The silage samples were collected in winter and spring. The samples were analysed by Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA) method. The incidence of total aflatoxin, ochratoxin A, T-2 toxin, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone and fumonisin in the silage samples were found as 18 (30 %), 8 (13,3 %), 21 (35 %), 23 (38,3 %), 23 (38,3 %) and 1 (1,7 %), respectively. The total aflatoxin, ochratoxin A, T-2 toxin, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone and fumonisin levels were detected as 4.33-19.92 µg/kg, 1.76-3.26 µg/kg, 3.85-15.40 µg/kg, 24.20-100.30 µg/kg, 2.84-40.64 µg/kg, 2690 µg/kg, respectively. The highest level of mycotoxins detected in the silage samples were deoxynivalenol and zearalenone. Statistical evaluations showed that mean contamination levels of T-2 toxin in spring silage samples were significantly higher (p<0.05) than those of winter, while the results showed that there were no statistical differences between total aflatoxin, ochratoxin A, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone and fumonisin levels of spring and winter silage samples. It was concluded that the mycotoxin levels detected in the silage samples could not be considered as a risk for animal health.
