Item Effects of dobutamine, methylprednisolone, flunixin meglumine and enalapril in the treatment of dogs with experimentally induced septic shock(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 1999-07-02) Yılmaz, Zeki; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/İç Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.In this study, it was aimed to compare the effects of various drugs in the treatment of dogs with experimentally induced septic shock. Hence, E.coli was given to each dog (30 dogs) via intravenous route at the dose of 5x 109 bacterial kg. Septic shock criteria such as prolonged capillary refilling time (CFT), decreased peripheral pulsation quality, decreased plasma volüme, marked leukopenia and thrombocytopenia were observed within one hour after giving E.coli (P<0 .001). In the treatment state, fıve groups each of which consisted of six dogs were designated. Enrofloxacin and fluid were given to the group, dobutamine was given to und group in addition to treatment of the ısı group. Additionally, methylprednisolone, flunixin meglumine, and enalapril were added to III, IV and groups, respectively. All dogs were monitored for clinical, hematological, sero biochemical parameters and survival time. While 3 dogs died in the 151 group, there was no death in the other groups in 5 days. As a result, it was concluded that positive effects of dobutamine were observed on circulatory functions and, when dobutamine was combined with flunixin meglumine, fluid and antibiotic; the combination was found to be the most effective therapy in the management of septic shock.Item Evaluation of hb1 genotype obtained by the crossbreeding of hampshire down and Kıvırcık sheep breeds(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 1999-07-26) Demir, Hıdır; Özcan, Mustafa; Yılmaz, Alper; Çörekci, Şebnem GündalThis study is a part of the project carried out by The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs together with several Associations in order to improve meat type sheep breeding in Turkey. The general aim of the project was determined as fıxing high meat yield meat sheep breeds which have good adaptation to the environmental conditions of Turkey and to cover the meat type ram needed for improving the meat yielding of indigenous sheep breeds within the country. By this project crossbreeding of Kıvırcık sheep which is the common indigenous sheep breed of the region with Hampshire Down rams which were brought to Inanlı State Farm from Britain, was begun in 1987. In 1988 F1 lambs, in 1990 by the crossbreeding of Hampshire Down x F1, HB1 lambs were produced. In the following years type fıxing studies were held by the mating of HB1's among themselves. In this study, the live weight before mating, greasy fleece weight and fertility characters of 115 HB1 ewes which were used in 1995-1996 breeding season and the survival and growth characters of 113 lambs until 90th day of age were investigated. Live weight before mating of HB1 ewes was 59.70 kg, greasy fleece weight was 2.26 kg, birth rate was 80.87%, litter size was 1.21, birth and 90th day live weights ofHB1 lambs were 4.10 kg and 20.25 kg respectively and survival rate of lambs till 90th day was 81.4%.
