    High velocity impinging air jets are widely used in industry, for heating, cool­ing, drying ete, because of the high heat and mass transfer rates which are develo­ ped in the impingement region. In this study, to provide data for dryer designers aprogramme of research has been implemented to study the heat and mass transfer processes which under/ie the drying of thin ink films. The ink drying process is des­ eribed and drying curves for an ink based on a single solvent are presented. Experi­mentally detennined drying times are compared with those calculated nurnericalIy using established heat and mass transfer theory.

    Optimization of the arrays of impinging air jets

    Use of impinging air jets to enhance heat and mass transfer rates is relatively new development in heatin& cooling and dlying operations in industry. In this paper, an original optimization of nozzle arrays under impinging air jets was given for both academic and industrial users.
