(Din Bilimleri Akad Araştırma Merkezi, 2021-01-01) Bilgin, Vejdi; Turan, Sümeyra Ünalan; BİLGİN, VEJDİ; ÜNALAN TURAN, SÜMEYRA; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/İlahiyat Fakültesi/Din Sosyolojisi Anabilim Dalı; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/İlahiyat Fakültesi/Din Sosyolojisi Anabilim Dalı; JDK-9518-2023; CDV-1489-2022
In the present study, the religious-health is discussed on the relationship between religion and health focusing in Tibb al-Nabawi, which is at the center of religion-health intersection. The purpose of the study was to reveal the effects of Sunnah in the health-related experiences of individuals, the processes of turning to Tibb Al-Nabawi, positive and negative outcomes of the sector with the eyes of the participants, and the legitimacy function of religion in healthcare. In this study, which was conducted with the phenomenology design, the data were obtained with in-depth interviews conducted with nine females and six male participants. The study group was created from people who applied Tibb al-Nabawi treatments. As a result of the study, it was determined that religion is effective in preferring these practices, especially for those who have religious identity. These people also choose religious- traditional practitioners who did these procedures by reading verses and prayers instead of clinics and hospitals in the scope of Traditional and Complementary Medicine (GETAT) for Hijama (The Wet Cupping Therapy) application. Especially the participants who graduated from Theology Faculty believed that Tibb al-Nabawi treatments became an economic sector, and that religion was used as a means of legitimacy and abuse of religious emotions in this sector. Although the tendency to individualize in healthcare comes to the forefront in the behavior of applying to Tibb al-Nabawi, the relations between religion and health in participants, who are affiliated with Aidin Salih school, seems to have changed from an individual sphere to a religious-health-based movement.

The struggle for influence through political and religious language in Islamic history
(Dinbilimleri Akad Araştırma Merkezi, 2014-01-01) Bilgin, Vejdi; BİLGİN, VEJDİ; Uludağ Üniversite/İlahiyat Fakültesi/Din, Sosyoloji Anabilim Dalı; JDK-9518-2023
This article tackles the struggle for influence between political authority and spiritual authority in Islamic Political History. Although there is no place in the doctrine, a religious class in Islamic tradition emerged. This class are perceived by society and themselves as representatives of Islam, but they were left behind as the power of the political class. In this case, they tried to gain influence through indirect ways. The article seeks to demonstrate the power struggle over the religious and political language using discourse analysis method.

Al-ghazali as a representative and initiator of the idealized attitude in the relationship between the class of religious scholars and government
(Bursa Ilahiyat Vakfi, 2013-12-01) BİLGİN, VEJDİ; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/İlahiyat Fakültesi.
There is no doctrinal approach for the nature of the relationship between the religious class ('ulama') and government in Islam. From the early centuries of Islam onwards, there have been two different approaches. The first approach is to be a part of the governing mechanism, and the second is to be separate from the government. In Islamic tradition, the second approach is accepted as an ideal attitude because it has been supported by major scholars and Sufis from the early centuries on. Al-Ghazali, who has a very important place in Islamic thought, also adopted this attitude and tried to behave consistently with it during his life. However, what distinguishes him from his predecessors is that he dedicated long passages to this issue in his major work, Ihya'. Al-Ghazali's attitude, because he is not only followed for his ideas but also for his personal life's record (manqiba), plays an important role by idealizing this second approach. In this paper, I address the intellectual background and the socio-political structure that paved the way for al-Ghazali's thoughts and their emergence into the public stage.
