    Career barriers of women architects in the construction sector

    It has been determined that the existing studies in the literature about women architects have remained in the background or ignored in the historical process, there are barriers they have encountered in the sector, their visibility in the sector is low and they have left the profession of architecture over time. However, it has been observed that it has not been investigated whether the career barriers that female architects encounter differ according to their career stages. The aim of this research is to fill the knowledge gap identified in this field in the literature and to reveal the career barriers faced by women architects.Quantitative research method was used in this study and data were collected by questionnaire method.It has been understood that the glass ceiling and sexist attitudes, which are among the career barriers of female architects, differ according to career stages. The limitations of the research are that the participation of the participants in the research is based on voluntariness, contacting people through online platforms due to Covid 19, the research is carried out in a limited time frame and the opinions of the participants are limited to the questions in the measurement tools.Within the construction industry, women architects face career barriers throughout their careers. Ensuring that more women architects take part in the construction sector will be an important step in reducing or eliminating such barriers. However, making individual efforts to prevent these barriers faced by female architects during their careers will not produce a real solution.The research is considered important in that it has not been investigated whether the career barriers found to be faced by female architects differ according to career stages and in this context, this study is the first of its kind.

    There are many actors influencing innovation during building design and construction periods. One of these is the architect. The architect plays a major role in various phases of the construction process, and as such, is an important player in the construction sector. In addition, architectural offices function as a co-ordinating hub for the activities of various professions involved in the construction process. For these reasons, architects assume an important role in construction networks. Competition is becoming more and more related with innovation. Accordingly, there is growing interest in the role of clients within the construction industry similiar with other sectors. Because of this, many factors such as company size, business strategy, customer relations, sales and marketing approaches and innovative networks are becoming more and more vital to survive in the construction sector. A case study was carried out to better understand the role of clients and the factors influencing the innovation process within architectural design offices. As the goal of this research was to understand and interpret the whole process of innovation, a qualitative research method was selected. A purposive method has been used in order to ensure that those who are considered a source of important information become a part of the research. Data was collected from the analyses unit via face to face interviews. In this paper the research process is explained and the collected data evaluated.

    The relationship between emotional intelligence and burnout levels among architecture students

    This study investigated the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and burnout among architecture students. The sample of the study included 35 4th year students in the Architecture Department. In the study the Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i) of Bar-On was used to measure the emotional intelligence profile, and Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) of Maslach was used to measure the state of burnout. The EI level of architecture students was found upper intermediate with a score of 3,63/5. No relationship was found between the EI level of students and their gender, habitation, employment and financial welfare levels. The burnout status of architecture students was defined as intermediate with a score of 2,66/5. No relationship was found between the burnout status of students and their gender, habitation, employment and financial welfare levels. The statistical analysis of the data has revealed a strong statistically significant relationship, in the same direction between the emotional intelligence levels of the students and their burnout status. The study has also revealed a strong and statistically significant relationship between the burnout status and general mood and stress management subscales of emotional intelligence.

    Reflections of technological developments on detail in architecture

    This article aims to examine the potential effects of contemporary technological developments on detail production in architecture. For this purpose, the bibliometric analysis method was utilized. A systematic analysis was conducted by filtering the words 3D printing, computer-aided design software, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality through the Web of Science database. This analysis was performed using keyword, co-authorship, and author citation analysis frameworks in the VOSviewer application. As a result of the research, the concepts of software architecture, machine learning, and augmented reality were found to be prominent. In addition, the impact of contemporary technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotic production on the concept of detail in architecture has attracted attention. The results of the research show that new tools continue to be developed in the detail production process in architecture and the impact of contemporary technologies on the detail production process is increasing. Architecture, details are developed based on specific criteria and design principles. They play a critical role in differentiating materials and guiding design decisions. Details are formed through a combination of experience and elements tailored to their function. As a result, current developments in the fields of design and production also influence the detail production process.
