Abstract
Digital printing is a technology that replaces conventional printing due to technological advances and reduced pattern variant orders. Digital transfer printing has a large share in polyester printing and this ratio is increasing day by day. In the digital transfer printing sector, a wide range of weights and grades of paper are used. In this study, the effect of paper quality on print quality and color yield on digital transfer printing results on 100% polyester fabrics was investigated. For this purpose, coated and uncoated paper samples of different qualities obtained from the sector were divided into 2 groups and subjected to printing, transfer and test operations. The first group is the coated and uncoated papers of four different firms at close weight. The other group consists of coated paper of different weight of the same company. Color yield, contour and line sharpness measurements were made and compared. In order to make this comparison, the test image was designed. The standard polyester fabric to be used in the experiments was determined. Firstly, the standard fabric was printed with fixed paper by changing the temperature and time, and after the measurements and evaluation, the most appropriate transfer and fixing condition was determined for transferring the dye in the paper to the fabric. In the second stage of the experiment, test images were printed on two different groups of papers. The pressures were transferred to the fabric under the determined fixing conditions, measurements were made by spectrophotometer and the results were evaluated. Color measurements were made on paper and fabric. Contour and line sharpness was measured from the test image on fabric and paper and the results were evaluated with graphs.
