Arapça’da sözcük ve biçimbirim

Abstract

Eskiden beri sözcük terimi tartışılmış ve bütün dilleri kapsayan bir tanımı yapılamadığı gibi belirli bir dil içinde dahi tanımlanabilmesi sorun oluşturmuştur. Dilbilim sözcüğün açık bir kapsayıcı biçimde tanımlanamaması ve daha küçük anlamlı birimlere bölünebilmesi nedeniyle dil çözümlemesinde daha hassas bir ölçü olan biçimbirimi (morpheme) tercih etmiştir. Biçimbirim daha hassas bir ölçüt olmasına rağmen tanımlanabilirliği tartışmalı olmakla beraber tanınabilirliği daha kolay olduğu için kişisel kullanımda sözcük vazgeçilmez gözükmektedir.

There has not been an exact definition of the word “word” comprising all languages. The notion “word” has been discussed in Arabic grammar tradition. There is not a definition to this notion in early Arabic grammar books. Only after fourth century of the Hegira it came to the sight attempts for the definition of the word under the influence of the Logic. In Linguistics the “word” is not used because of its ambiguity instead of it the morpheme “smallest meaningful language unit” is employed. But in everyday use and in native speaker of any natural language the “word” is still not seems to be laid aside easily. Although the morpheme in linguistic analyses is a more clear criterion but the “word” is still useful in language teaching.
