Abstract
Thirty male Avian Farms broilers were used as material in the study. Animals divided into three groups as control, treatment 1 and treatment 2 were fed with ration without selenium, and with rations 0.3 ppm inorganic selenium (sodium selenite) and 0.3 ppm organic selenium (Sel-Plex 50) supplemented for 42 days, respectively. At the end of the experiment glucose, cholesterol, total protein, urea, uric acid, sodium (Na), potassium (K), chloride (Cl), inorganic phosphorus (IP) levels and aspartate amino transferase (AST) and gamma glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) activities were determined in blood taken during the slaughtering using autoanalyzer. While total protein and uric acid levels had significant differences (p<0.05) between control and treatment 2 groups, there were no differences in other parameters among the groups. As a result, it was concluded that the supplementation of organic and inorganic selenium didn’t have any effect on biochemical blood parameters in broilers and didn’t cause any negative effect on their health.
