Abstract
Foundations, as a social organization, in Ottoman society are both indication of a social solidarity and the most influential supporter of public improvements. Hoca Ece and his wife Ayşe Hanım, who lived in fifteenth’s century Bursa, were a part of this 496 charity chain through foundations they established. Hoca Ece, who established a school for children living in near district and contributed to re-establishment of a mosque, also donated money for straw mats of the greatest mosque (Ulucami) in Bursa. His wife Ayşe, fallowing the path of his husband, donated income of a house for education of people living nearby through reading books. It’s our duty to be faithful and bring to light this kindhearted people and many more forgotten people.
