Abstract
The study was carried out, to investigate effects of protein deficiency on broiler chicks. The chicks were fed with rations including 2950 Kcal energy and 21, 16, 12 and 8.5 % digestible protein respectively. Average initial weight of chicks at for groups were 40 g and final weight of the chicks at the e nd of 6 weeks fattening period were 1280, 1100, 621 and 152 g respectively. Average daily liue· weight gain, daily feed consumption and feed consumption for 1 kg of liveweight gain of the groups were estimated as 29.5, 25.2, 13.9, 2. 7 g; 71.2, 62.5, 52.2, 42.5 g and 2.36, 2.91, 3.23, 17.5 kg respectively. It was observed that, in group 3 and 4 insufficient nutrition caused in· efficient feathering, soffening of beak and nail, pigmentation disorders, bone deformations, exhaustion, and increase of mortality rate. Final liveweight differences of the groups were statistically significant (P < 0.05).
