Abstract
In this study, in which the concept of the political other is analysed as an imaginary constructed in the social imagination, the theoretical approaches of Cornelius Castoriadis and Carl Schmitt are used to examine the construction of the concept. While Castoriadis' conceptualisations of radical imagination and social imagination within th eframework of the imaginative construction of society provide an explanation for the construction of the other as an imaginary, at the same time, the political context of this construction is placed on a concrete and actual ground based on Carl Schmitt's discussions on absolute sovereignty and the political. Accordingly, the centre of the study is based on the reading of the two thinkers together.
