Abstract
Satire was one of the most important themes in the poetry of Jâhiliyya period. Satirical poems were being composed for personal purposes sometimes, but mostly for tribal rivalries. However, we could not find any ode wholly dedicated to satire in this period, instead satire was used to support eulogies. One of the most distinctive characteristics of the satire of this period, is that the satire focused on humanly merits, not on corporal 300 defects. The second decade of Islamic invitation was the most gorgeous period of this classical type of satire in Arabic poetry.
