Abstract
Osmanlı’da sivil modern okulların öncüsü olan rüşdiye mekteplerine öğretmen yetiştirmek üzere 1848 yılında Darülmualliminin açılmıştır. Darülmualliminden itibaren öğretmen eğitimi günümüze kadar gelişmiş ve bugünün eğitim fakülteleri ortaya çıkmıştır. Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nde 1926 yılında ortaokullara öğretmen yetiştirmek üzere Orta Muallim Mektebi açılmış, daha sonra bu okul Eğitim Enstitüsü adını almış ve bu tip enstitülerin sayısı yurt genelinde yaygınlaştırılmaya başlanmıştır. 1958 yılında açılan Bursa Eğitim Enstitüsü de bu enstitüler arasında yerini almıştır. İlk açılan eğitim enstitülerinden biri olan Bursa Eğitim Enstitüsü değişim ve gelişim geçirerek Eğitim Fakültesi olarak günümüze gelmiştir. Enstitüsüler uzun yıllar yazılı ve sözlü sınavlar yaparak öğrenci kabul etmiş, 1978’den itibaren merkezi üniversite sınavı ile öğrenci alınmaya başlanmıştır. Enstitünün kuruluşundan itibaren öğrenci ve öğretmen sayılarında artışlar olmuştur. Okul süreç içerisinde insan sayısı bakımından büyümesinin yanı sıra bina olarak ta büyümüştür. Enstitü açıldığında bir ilkokul ile aynı paylaşmış, 24 Ekim 1966 tarihinde Yıldırım’da yapılmış olan binaya taşınmıştır. Bursa Eğitim Enstitüsü için konferans salonu, kapalı spor salonu, yatakhane ve yemekhanesi olan bir kampüs yapılmıştır. Enstitünün öğrencileri futbol, basketbol, taekwondo, tiyatro kulübü, folklor kulübü, müzik kulüpleri, kütüphane kulübü gibi çeşitli sosyal faaliyetlere katılmışlardır. 1970 yıllarda Türkiye’nin siyasi ortamından Bursa Eğitim Enstitüsü öğrencileri de etkilenmiş ve Enstitüde olaylar çıkmıştır. Bu nedenle bazı zamanlarda dersler tatil edilmiştir. Enstitüde, teorik olarak alan ve pedagoji derslerinin yanında uygulama dersleri verilmiş, öğretmenlik uygulaması için ortaokul ve liselere stajyer gönderilmiştir. Günümüzde sert bir şekilde eleştirilen Mektupla Öğretim ve Hızlandırılmış Program ile öğretmen yetiştirme usulleri Bursa Eğitim Enstitüsünde de uygulanmıştır. Türkiye’ye öğretmen yetiştirme konusunda uzun yıllar hizmet etmiş olan Bursa Eğitim Enstitüsü 1982’de Eğitim Fakültesine dönüştürülerek Uludağ Üniversitesi bağlanmıştır.
Darülmuallimin (Male Teacher Training College) was opened in the Ottoman Empire in 1848 to train teachers for junior high schools, which were the pioneer of the civil modern schools in the Empire. Teacher training has developed since the opening of Darülmuallimin, which has led to the emergence of today’s faculties of education. Orta Muallim Mektebi (Middle Teacher Training School) was opened in the Republic of Turkey in 1926 to train teachers for middle schools. Then its name was changed into Institute of Education and the number of schools under this name increased across the country. Bursa Institute of Education, which was opened in 1958, was one of such institutes. Bursa Institute of Education, which was one of the first institutes of education opened, has become today’s Faculty of Education by going through a series of change and development. Initially, institutes admitted students through written and oral exams for many years. In 1978, they started to admit students by centralized university exam. The number of students and teachers rose as of the establishment of the institute. Besides the number of people, the number of the buildings of the institute increased as well. When the institute was opened, it shared a building with a primary school. It was moved to a building constructed in Yıldırım on 24 October 1966. A campus composed of a conference hall, an indoor sports hall, a dormitory, and a dining hall was made for Bursa Institute of Education. The students of the institute participated in various social activities such as football, basketball, taekwondo, theatre, folk dancing, music club, and library club. In the 1970s, the students of Bursa Institute of Education were affected by the political environment of Turkey, and certain events took place there. Therefore, classes were cancelled at certain times. In the institute, practical courses were given as well as theoretical major area and pedagogical courses, and interns were sent to middle schools and high schools for teaching practice. With Teaching with Letters and Accelerated Program, which is harshly criticized today, teacher training procedures were applied in Bursa Institute of Education. Serving Turkey in the field of teacher training for many years, the institute was converted into Faculty of Education and affiliated to Uludağ University in 1982.
