Abstract
In this thesis study, 100/36, 150/48 and 300/96 recycled and original polyester yarns were produced by false twist texturing method. 200 hours artificial UV aging test was applied to the produced textured yarns. Before and after UV aging, elongation-breaking strength, breaking strength, SEM, DSC and FTIR analyses were performed. Uster irregularity analyses of POY yarns (non-textured plain yarn) were performed. According to the tests, 300/96 yarn showed better mechanical properties after UV. SEM imaging was preferred at different magnifications for physical test and no significant difference was observed on yarn surfaces before and after UV. FTIR analysis results were supported by Norrish-I and Norrish-II mechanisms. When thermal behaviors were examined with the help of DSC device, it was observed that there were general decreases in the melting temperatures of the yarns after UV.
