Abstract
The “Baroque movement”, which showed its effect in music at the end of the 19th century, emerged as a style in the works of many composers especially in Germany and France. This trend, which is classified as Neo-classism, spread to Europe in a short time and influenced the composers, including Ravel, in search of a stronger identity for French music. In this study, the “neo-classicalist” understanding, which has become an important trend in 20th century music, has been researched and information has been given about the composers who have written works in this style. French composers with works in “New-classical” thinking were also included, and the place and importance of Maurice Ravel in 20th century French music were also evaluated in this context. In addition, the process of the emergence of the “Le Tombeau de Couperin” suite for solo piano, which is one of M. Ravel’s important works in the “New-classical” style, and the stylistic structure of the suite’s sections has been mentioned.
