Abstract
Fibronectins are a group of large extracellular glycoproteins. In recent years, it is understood that fibronectin has important effects on several cellular phenomena. Such as it can mediate cell attachment, spreading and phagocytosis and it has numerous effects on cell morphology. It acts as a mediator in the interactions of cells to cell and cell to substrate. In this review F's types, synthesis, functions, interactions of it with various ligands and its molecule structure are mentioned shortly. In addition we mentioned briefly about the fibronectin receptor. It is a 140.000 dalton protein, embedded in the membrane (an intrinsic protein). Fibronectins interact with the cells by means of this specific cell-surface fibronectin receptor.
