Abstract
Dulkadir Beylerbeylik was established shortly after the principality of the same name was captured by the Ottoman Empire. When the sanjaks subject to the Beylerbeylik administration were examined, it was found that the sanjaks dependent on the province vary depending on the years. To ensure that the variation does not pose a problem for tracking urbanization in administrative structuring over two centuries, the sanjaks comprising the Beylerbeylik have been clearly determined. At this point, Maraş, Ayntab, Sis and Kars-ı Maraş sanjaks under the administration of Dulkadir Beylerbeylik are included in the scope of the study. This thesis was written to comparatively examine the urbanization structure in the region dominated by Dulkadir Beylerbeylik in the 16th and 17th centuries. Despite many studies on early modern period Ottoman cities, the absence of a summary city history study on Dulkadir Beylerbeylik necessitated the preparation of the current research. The main purpose of this study is to examine the social and economic aspects of the two-century period of the cities of a principality within the borders of the empire. In the first part of the study, the neighborhoods that make up the cities are examined and their situation in the 16th and 17th centuries is revealed. The events of the centuries have been revealed. The numbers of neighborhoods, their names, and their preservation status in these four cities under study have been considered within this framework. In the second part, evaluations were made on the estimated populations, population structures and ethnic groups of the settlements, focusing on the people who gave life to the cities. In the third chapter, which is the last part of the study, the economic structures of the cities were examined. The situation of production areas, trade-industry branches, agriculture and animal husbandry in the cities were evaluated inthis context.
