A case of primary ovarian pregnancy with as intra-uterine device insitu

The case of primary ovarian pregnancy in a 37 year old gravida 7, para 4 is reported. A plastic intra-uterine device was in-situ for three years. The primary left ovarian pregnancy which fulfilled Von Spiegelberg's criteria was removed at nine weeks gestation. The etiology of a primary ovarian pregnancy in the presence of an intra-uterine device is at present unknown.

1,2-ethanedioic acid-bis(phenylglyoxylidene hydrazide), EDGH4, has been synthesized and various Cu(II), Ni(I1) and Co(I1) complexes of this compound have been isolated. Dissociation and formation constants of these complexes have been determined by spectrophotometric methods and spectrophotometric trace analyses of the Ni(I1) and Cu(I1) complexes have been performed. The structures of all isolated compounds were proposed on the basis of analyses, i.r., u.v.-visible and n.m.r. data.

Dibenzo[e,k]-2,3-bis(hydroxyimino)-1,4,7,10-tetraaza-2,3,8,9-tetrahydrocyclododecine(LH4) has been prepared from anti-dichloro-glyoxime, 1,2-bis(o-amino-phenylamino)ethane, and sodium bicarbonate in ethanol. The structure of this dioxime is found to be in anti-form according to 1H-n.m.r. and i.r. spectral data. LH4 gives trinuclear complexes [(LH)2M3] with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Pd(II), and UO2(VI) by coordinating through N atoms in both aza and oxime groups. In [(LH3)Cl(C2O)Zn], a six-membered chelate ring has been formed. A mononuclear Pd(II) complex has been also isolated at room temperature. 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance, i.r., and u.v.-visible data are given.
Long-term storage of grass seeds

Seeds of crested wheatgrass, Agropyron cristatum (L.) Gaertn., intermediate wheatgrass, A. intermedium (Host.) Beauv., and smooth bromegrass, Bromus inermis Leyss., were stored for 20 yr under various conditions. Temperature was a major factor affecting success with viability inversely related to storage temperature. At -7 and - l8'C, viabilities of 80-9070 were shown after 2O yr storage. Drying seed for 7.5 h at 60"C prior to storage gave little improvement over undried seed stored with 87o moisture. Plastic bags gave storage as good as glass jars with screw-top lids, although plastic bags were less effective in excluding moisture. It was concluded that adequate germination for reproduction of strains could be obtained after 25-30 yr of storage.
Surgical treatment and complications of thoracic hydatid disease - Report of 61 cases

Echinococcus cysts in the thoracic cavity were diagnosed and treated in 61 patients. Diagnosis was usually made by clinical and radiological manifestations of hydatid disease. Empyema, broncho-biliary, and biliary-pleural fistulae are complications of thoracic echinococcosis. Portal hypertension, systemic venous obstruction, paraplegia, arterial emboli due to endocardial cysts are complications of echinococcus cysts. In 40 patients with uncomplicated cysts, cystectomy-capitonnage was performed. Lobectomy or segmental resection was undertaken for complicated cysts and destroyed lung parenchyma, in ten patients. Extirpation of the cyst is preferred for extrapulmonary location, and median sternotomy is applied for bilaterial multiple pulmonary hydatid cysts. In our series, the incidence of surgical complications was low and there was no surgical mortality. Recurrence or pleural implantation of pulmonary echinococcus cyst have not been found during an average nine-months follow-up.

Pulmonary air meniscus sign

In chest roentgenograms, the pulmonary meniscus sign is a crescent-shaped inclusion of air surrounded by consolidated lung tissue. The common cause is aspergilloma. A hydatid cyst is, however, the most common cause in endemic areas. In this study, 10 cases with meniscus sign are presented and the pertinent literature is reviewed.
Synthesis of 1,3-Diphenyl-4,5-bis(hydroxyimino)imidazolidine and its complexes with Nickel(II), Cobalt(II), Copper(II), Palladium(II), and Uranyl(VI)

1, 3-Dipheny1-4, 5-bis(hydroxyimino)imidazolidine (LH2) has been prepared from anti-dichloroglyoxime, N,N′-diphenylmethylenediamine, and sodium bicarbonate in ethanol. Complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Pd(II), and UO2(VI) and LH2 give a metal-ligand ratio of 1:2. A tetrahedral complex is obtained for the Ni(II) complex by coordination through N and O atoms. The (LH2)Co. H2O complex is squarepyramidal while the Cu(II), Pd(II) and UO2(VI) complexes are square-planar. The structures of the ligand and complexes are proposed based on elemental analysis, mass spectral, H-n.m.r., i.r., u. v. -visible, and magnetic data.
Measurement of differential scattering cross section of NaI for 59.6 keV gamma rays

Scattering of 59.6 keV γ-rays of 241Am from sodium iodide, aluminium and copper have been determined for scattering angles between 24 and 144°. Differential coherent plus incoherent scattering cross section values for copper have been obtained theoretically, by means of form factor and scattering function calculations. Comparing the experimental data with the theoretical cross section values for copper, the experimental arrangement has been calibrated for each scattering angle. So, absolute values of differential cross section of sodium iodide for 59.6 keV γ-rays for eleven scattering angles have been obtained.
Investigations into new outerwear stitches based on the interlock principle

The suitability of interlock jacquard long-loop stitches for outerwear, as compared with other types of stitches, is discussed. Tests based on DIN standards were carried out to measure the width of the goods, the number of courses and wales, the weight per unit area, the tensile strength and breaking elongation, and the bursting resistance and abrasion resistance. The results showed that the new stitches developed in knitting long loops with jacquard patterns are superior to the conventional cam and jacquard stitches in regard to the density, width, and bursting strength obtained.
