Publication 15 and 30 w holmium: Yag laser lithotriptor in ureteroscopic lithotripsy: Which one is more effective and safe?(Mary Ann Liebert, 2021-05-05) Kaygısız, Onur; Aydın, Yavuz Mert; Çicek, Mehmet Çağatay; Çelen, Sinan; Coşkun, Burhan; Kılıçarslan, Hakan; Kaygısız, Onur; KAYGISIZ, ONUR; Aydın, Yavuz Mert; AYDIN, YAVUZ MERT; Çicek, Mehmet Çağatay; ÇİÇEK, MEHMET ÇAĞATAY; Coşkun, Burhan; COŞKUN, BURHAN; Kılıçarslan, Hakan; KILIÇARSLAN, HAKAN; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Üroloji Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0002-9790-7295; 0000-0002-6287-6767; 0000-0002-0471-5404; 0000-0002-8242-9921; JCO-5169-2023; AFP-3055-2022; L-9439-2019Background: Holmium:yttrium-aluminium-garnet (Ho:YAG) laser lithotripsy with ureteroscopy (URS) was a safe and successful treatment option for pediatric ureteral stones. We aimed to comparatively evaluate the outcomes of 15 and 30 W Ho:YAG laser lithotriptors in pediatric ureter stones.Materials and Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 55 children who underwent ureteroscopic laser lithotripsy to treat ureter stone size up to 15 mm between September 2009 and March 2020. Groups were formed according to the laser lithotriptor power 15 W (Group 15: n = 32), 30 W (Group 30: n = 23). The efficiency of laser lithotriptors was compared between the groups. Results: The age, gender, and stone characteristics (longest stone diameter, density, location and multiple stones) were similar between the groups. In the postop first month, stone-free status was achieved in all cases except one child in Group 15. The median operative time was significantly shorter in Group 30 (40 minutes) than in Group 15 (52.5 minutes) (P = .010). Clavien-Dindo class (CDC) 2 complications occurred in 2 children in both groups (P = .597). Although ureteric stenosis was observed in 1 patient in Group 15, no ureteric stenosis was seen in Group 30 during follow-up (median 16.1 months). Length of hospital stay (LoHS) and stone-free rates were similar between groups. Conclusion: URS with 15 and 30 W Ho:YAG laser lithotriptors is an effective treatment option for pediatric ureteral stones with a high success rate and low complication rates. In brief, 30 W Ho:YAG laser lithotriptors should be preferred over 15 W lithotriptors due to their shorter operative time with similar success rate.Publication 195 hand injuries in 12 days: The outcomes of the feast of sacrifice(Iranian Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Assoc, 2016-05-01) Akın, Selçuk; AKIN, SELÇUK; Ersen, Burak; Saki, Mehmet Can; Tunali, Orhan; Köse, Mehmet; Aksu, Ismail; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi.; 0000-0002-3003-918X; AAH-5064-2021Publication 19th century Greek churches of Mudanya(Ege Univ, 2019-10-01) Aydın, Ersin; Özügül, Ayşin; ÖZÜGÜL, AYŞİN; 0000-0001-6463-2080; AAH-6690-2021Until 1924, the majority of the population of Mudanya, one of the towns that Ottomans first conquered in Bithynia (1321), was composed of Greeks. The existence of many Greek churches in Mudanya is known both from written sources and from surviving buildings. Two of the ten churches rebuilt are used as cultural centers. The walls of the three churches whose roofs have been destroyed are about to collapse. Only one of the other five churches has extant with a height of about one meter. In the Ottoman period, except for the exceptions, the new church was not built until the 19th century, the churches belonging to the Byzantine and pre 19th-century Ottoman periods were repaired to and used with the permission of the sultan. Owing to the reform brought by the Edicts of Tanzimat (1839) and Islahat (1856), the foundations of small-size churches that were demolished were rebuilt on a larger scale. In the Ottoman archives, the documents related to these churches include the reasons for reconstruction, their size, the cost of construction and how this cost will be met, as well as the community population that will use the church, as well as the ground floor plan and front view drawings of some churches. All of the Greek churches in Mudanya have basilica plan, door and window openings with round arches, as well as columns, arches and inner roofs of the naos, have been constructed of wood. The facade arrangement and decorations of the church buildings in Mudanya which have close similarities with the contemporary Greek churches of Bursa and Istanbul, are in eclectic style.Publication 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels in non-small cell lung cancer patients(Wiley, 2018-12-01) Sahintürk, Serdar; Sahintürk, Kadriye; ŞAHİNTÜRK, SERDAR; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi/Fizik Bölümü; 0000-0002-7612-0055; ACQ-9887-2022Publication 96 weeks of pegylated-interferon- alpha-2α plus tenofovir or placebo for the treatment of hepatitis delta: The hidit-2 study(Wiley-blackwell, 2013-10-01) Wedemeyer, Heiner; Yurdaydin, Cihan; Ernst, Stefanie; Caruntu, Florin A.; Curescu, Manuela G.; Yalcin, Kendal; Akarca, Ulus S.; Zeuzem, Stefan; Erhardt, Andreas; Lueth, Stefan; Papatheodoridis, George; Keskin, Onur; Port, Kerstin; Celen, Mustafa K.; Stift, Judith; Heidrich, Benjamin; Mederacke, Ingmar; Hardtke, Svenja; Koch, Armin; Dienes, Hans P.; Manns, Michael P.; Gürel, Selim; GÜREL, SELİM; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi; HLH-8209-2023Publication A 13-Plex PCR for high-resolution melting-based screening of clinically important Staphylococcus species in animals(Elsevier, 2019-09-01) Ata, Zafer; Büyükcangaz, Esra; BÜYÜKCANGAZ, ESRA; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/Mikrobiyoloji Anabilim Dalı.; AAL-2323-2020A single-tube multiplex real-time PCR targeting the nuclease (nuc) gene and subsequent high-resolution melting analysis (HRMA) were used to identify 13 different Staphylococcus species. The nuc gene was targeted due to its low intraspecies variation and the greater interspecies variation than the 16S rRNA gene in Staphylococcus. We used HRMA software that can store and compare HRMA profiles from different runs as long as the runs contain the same reference reaction. Thus, we reduced the 14 PCRs to 2 different PCRs, one targeting the unknown sequence and the other targeting the reference sequences to screen 13 different Staphylococcus species. The specificity of the developed method was tested on 16 different Staphylococcus reference strains and 115 different field strains that were isolated from the milk of cattle with subclinical mastitis. We conclude that the method can be used to quickly and cost-effectively differentiate Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) from other Staphylococcus species (S. epidermidis, S. lugdunensis, S. schleiferi, S. hyicus, S. chromogenes, S. lentus, S. haemolyticus, S. xylosus, S. saprophyticus, S. warneri, S. simulans and S. hominis).Publication A 3 year review of a cohort turkish paediatric oncology group (TURKPEDPGx)(Wiley, 2018-11-01) Baskın, Y.; Uncu, B.; Leblebici, A.; Kocal, G. On the other hand, ulceroglandular form is generally observed as a result of contact with infected animals and animal products. Arthropod-borne tularemia is very rare in Turkey. In this study, we present an arthropod-borne ulceroglandular tularemia case in Bursa province.Publication A case of behcet's disease concomitant with kaposi's sarcoma(Wolters Kluwer Medknow Publications, 2010-06-01) Erdem, Hatice; Hacıoğlu, Şenay Yıldız; Sarıcaoğlu, Hayriye; Dilek, Kamil; Adım, Şaduman Balaban; Erdem, Hatice; Hacıoğlu, Şenay Yıldız; SARICAOĞLU, HAYRİYE; DİLEK, KAMİL; BALABAN ADIM, ŞADUMAN; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Dermatol Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Nefrol Romatoloji Anabilim Dalı.; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Patoloji Anabilim Dalı.; HIZ-7238-2022; ICQ-8894-2023; DPU-8534-2022; EUF-5229-2022; EMN-0789-2022Iatrogenic Kaposi's sarcoma is a subtype of Kaposi's sarcoma (KS), which is a vascular malignant tumor and is seen in organ transplant recipients and in patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy due to other reasons. Iatrogenic KS can develop after corticosteroid or immunosuppressive drug therapy due to systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, polymyositis, dermatomyositis, polymyalgia rheumatica and Beh double dagger et's disease, generally with ocular involvement. Our case was a 44-year old male patient. Colchicine and prednisolone were administered for his mucocutaneous findings and polyarthritis. In the seventh month of the therapy, four symmetric, brown-red coloured, asymptomatic macules developed on the inner surface of his left foot. In histopathologic specimens; CD34 positive, atypical spindle cells with swollen nuclei formed bundles and vascular spaces filled with erythrocytes. The patient was diagnosed as KS histopathologically and clinically. HHV-8 DNA was positive with PCR. Regression was observed in the lesions after the cessation of corticosteroid treatment. This case is presented because he was the only case with iatrogenic Kaposi's sarcoma among our Behcet's disease patients receiving corticosteroids or immunosuppressive therapies.Publication A case of brucellosis with subcutaneous abscess(Aves, 2006-12-01) Güler, Hicran; Mistik, Reşit; Kabas, Mine; Heper, Yasemin; HEPER, YASEMİN; Hakyemez, Bahattin; HAKYEMEZ, BAHATTİN; Helvacı, Safiye; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Mikrobiyoloji ve Enfeksiyon Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Radyoloji Anabilim Dalı.; AAI-2318-2021; AAH-6506-2021A case of brucellosis with subcutaneous abscess adjacent to the parotis gland is presented in this study. Metastasis to the breast is fairly uncommon, but can occur in breast skin and parenchyma. In particular, leukemia and lung cancers, and MM may metastasize to the breast. Breast metastasis might be the first symptom or may occur during the course of other malignancies. Our case presented with a fixed mass in the upper-medial quadrant of her left breast during regular follow-up visits. The mean time to breast metastasis in patients with MM is 62 months (13-178). In our case this time was 48 months. In a case series with 7 patients hematological malignancies (Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and leukemia) were the leading cause of breast metastasis, whereas in only 1 case the cause was MM. In another case series of 15 MM patients with metastasis to the breast, the primary tumor was frequently localized to the upper extremities and trunk. In a report of 250 conjunctival MM cases the mortality rate was significantly higher in patients with tumors >4 mm in vertical thickness. In another 45-case MM series tumors with a diameter >10 mm were associated with higher mortality rates. In our case the thickness of the tumor was 5 mm. In conclusion, histopathological evaluation should be mandatory in patients with known primary malignancies in order to differentiate new primary tumors, metastases, and benign tumors.Publication A case of extensive ductal carcinoma in situ and sclerosing adenosis with metastasis on sentinel lymph node(Sage Publications Ltd, 2019-08-28) NARTER, SELİN; HASDEMİR, SEÇİL; Hasdemir, Seçil; Gökgöz, Şehsuvar; GÖKGÖZ, MUSTAFA ŞEHSUVAR; Tolunay, Şahsine; TOLUNAY, ŞAHSİNE; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Patoloji Anabilim Dalı.; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Genel Cerrahi Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0003-1769-7484; AAI-1612-2021Introduction: Sclerosing adenosis is a form of adenosis characterized by lobulocentric architecture, glandular and stromal proliferation in which the stromal component compresses and distorts the glandular structures. Atypical epithelial proliferations such as atypical lobular hyperplasia, lobular carcinoma in situ, and ductal carcinoma in situ may accompany areas of sclerosing adenosis. We present a case of ductal carcinoma in situ and sclerosing adenosis with metastatic carcinoma on sentinel lymph node. Case description: A 40-year-old woman presented with a palpable mass in her left breast. Radiologic studies showed a lesion suggesting malignancy in the left breast and atypical lymph node in the left axillary region. Left lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy was performed. Histopathologic examination revealed lobulocentric lesions with glandular proliferation and hyalinizing stroma in between. Foci of high-grade cribriform and solid type ductal carcinoma in situ were observed. Sentinel lymph node biopsy showed micrometastasis in one lymph node section. Based on these findings, the patient was diagnosed with high-grade ductal carcinoma in situ with sclerosing adenosis. However, the presence of micrometastasis in the lymph node suggested occult invasion that we were not able to detect. Conclusion: Ductal carcinoma in situ with sclerosing adenosis can mimic invasive carcinoma both radiologically and histologically. It should be kept in mind that there may be occult invasive carcinoma in patients with ductal carcinoma in situ whether the lesion is accompanied by sclerosing adenosis or not. Multiple sections and immunohistochemical studies can be of help.Publication A case of giant cell osteosarcoma in a scottish fold cat(Hellenic Veterinary Medical Soc, 2022-10-01) Dayı, Belma; Sevimli, Alper; Mutlu, Ayşe Meriç; MUTLU, AYŞE; Akkoç, Ahmet; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi.; 0000-0002-5090-7917; 0000-0001-9745-4567This study describes a case of giant cell osteosarcoma (GCO) located on the right scapulae in a six-year-old neutered male Scottish Fold cat. GCO is a rare tumor in domestic animals. This tumor is also known as giant cell-rich osteosarcoma. Multinucleated giant cells and osteoid islands are observed in GCO.The mass was 4.6x4.4x4.3 cm in size and very firm. Microscopically, fusiform-shaped cells and multinucleated giant cells were observed. There were 4-8 mitotic figures in three random high-power fields (400x). Osteoid islands and necrosis were detected in several areas. In these areas, atypia was observed in the multinucleated giant cells and fusiform-shaped cells. Immunohisto-chemically, vimentin expression was observed in neoplastic cells. No immunoreactivity against actin and cytokeratin was observed in neoplastic cells. Additionally, vimentin expression was detected in the periphery of blood vessels and actin expression in blood vessel smooth muscle cells. As a result ofhistopathological and immunohistochemical find-ings, the mass was determined to be GCO.Publication A case of hyperkinetic movement disorder associated with lgi1 antibodies(Turkish J Pediatrics, 2015-09-01) Erer-Özbek, Sevda; Yapıcı, Zühal; Tüzün, Erdem; Giriş, Murat; Duran, Selcen; Taşkapılioğlu, Özlem; Okan, Mehmet; ERER ÖZBEK, ÇİĞDEM SEVDA; Duran, Selcen; Taşkapılioğlu, Özlem; Okan, Mehmet; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Nöroloji Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0001-7553-2034; EUN-3732-2022; JZJ-9352-2024; AAK-6623-2020; IMZ-1723-2023Encephalitis associated with leucine-rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) antibodies is often encountered in elderly male patients and may infrequently present with isolated syndromes. A 6-year-old boy was admitted with acute onset severe oral and facial stereotypic and choreiform movements. On his neurologic examination, he had repetitive and rhythmic movements in orolingual muscles including tongue protrusion, limb chorea and minimal facial stereotypic movements. Anti-streptolysin O (ASO) titers were found severely elevated in several measurements. Well-characterized antibodies against ion channels and synapse proteins were negative whereas LGI1 antibody was positive in both serum and CSF. Marked clinical improvement was observed after immunotherapy. Here, we present the first pediatric case with LGI1 antibody associated hyperkinetic movement disorders and emphasize the importance of investigating neuronal autoantibodies in patients with isolated and treatment resistant movement disorders.Publication A case of mycosis fungoides-like lesions developing after levetiracetam therapy(Elsevier Science Inc, 2014-01-01) Bora, İbrahim; BORA, İBRAHİM HAKKI; BİCAN DEMİR, AYLİN; Başkan, Emel Bülbül; BÜLBÜL BAŞKAN, EMEL; Demir, Aylin Bican; Balaban, Şaduman; BALABAN ADIM, ŞADUMAN; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Nöroloji Anabilim Dalı.; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Dermatoloji Anabilim Dalı.; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Patoloji Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0001-6739-8605; V-7170-2017; JCE-6657-2023; AAH-1388-2021Levetiracetam is a relatively new antiepileptic drug that has previously not been associated with severe dermatological side effects.
